Here is a brief history of my project. As you can see I started out with a 85 4runner. Stated with a downey lift to fit the 33's. Natually that did not last long.
http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww35/optionstrader/P3310245.jpg
Ater wheeling with a friend who had 37's we realised that was the way to go. Added ARB's 529 and a marline lift.
http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww35/optionstrader/barstow09.jpg
1st trip to the hammers: broke front/rear R&P and crushed in the passenger side sheet metal from blinker to blinker. Then decided to remove the Quarter panels.

One weekend my wife took a ride in a KOH buggy and came back with the go ahead to build something differant. This is where it gets fun.

I tested last weekend and everything seemed to be fine. Only trouble was the tie rod hit the pitman arm. Was able to adjust the pinion angle to clear the rubbing. Here are a few more pics of the project.

Last year in the spring I chose to replace the motor because it smokes pretty bad. I called Daves offroad and gave him a deposit of 2500.00. Well many months later no motor. I asked for my money back and he started making payments of 500.00 per month. Payment stopped and he still owes me 1000.00. I know he is a good guy and I dont really want him to have troubles but it is about time this is settled.

About to start the same mod on 112 for the same reasons, how's the bump steer, and static uptrave? How much before you get close to the pan, how far did you set the bump stops?

That is a bunch of crap. I have almost a years worth of emails from him regarding repayment. I not sure what the deal is but I would strongly caution others from using his services.

Hey Dave, I was wondering what happened to my motor. Im not at all pissed cuz im very busy with work and dont have time anyways. I was wandering if you would like to refund my money to take away some of the backlog. as far a money is concerned, repayment does not have to happen all at once.

This weekend at KOH was my first real test for the suspention. I have to say that it worked perfectly.
Then thing that was most impressive was how much more powerful the motor was when your not
always mashing on the brakes. Glad to say it burns alot more gas.

Got a bunch of PM's regarding the details so thought I would answer all at once.

Took apart the rear yesterday. waiting for parts to come in. The new wheel base should be 112". This will fit perfectly and still allow the rear seat. Going to order shocks and air bumps today probably 16" coilovers so I have more uptravel.

I was thinking of doing the same....but then I rarely change tire pressure since I almost always trailer my buggy now!

I was asked about the rear seat. First I installed a 36" bench seat from prp, the problem is my kids would always fight being that close to each other. Later installed two preteen prp. They fit better have better sealt belts and most importantly they keep kids from fighting :) I also added additional tubing for head room.... It kinda looks like a mini van.

http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww35/optionstrader/Rearseats001-2.jpg

Also the outer ring of the chasse is the air tank. The ARB stuff is located by the passengers feet.

Started the rear. Found out that tires hit tubes. If I could ditch the rear seats, this would be alot easier. Going to rebuild the rear for fuel cell and battery sopport.

Got a little more done this week. Total wheel base 112". 16" fox with 8" uptravel sitting at ride height. The fuel cell is going to sit rear of the shocksand battery sits between. I really tried to keep the ftoy look but its was not possible with the rear seat. Was also able to save the existing floor panels. This will have to do. Air bumps next week. Hope to have it complete for a test run next weekend.

After about 4 trips to the Hammers I noticed that the drivers front corner is twisted out 1/4". That made the pitman arm move out 1" also the panhard bar twisted the frame out which shifted the front diff to the driver side 2". I could only steer passenger side to 1 oclock.... so lots of plating and bracing had to take place before putting back together.

Crazy good idea.

You won't be changing the weight of your engine noticeably, so your suspenson can stay dialed.
You'll get an engine that REALLY snorts.

Keep shopping, unless the TRD's are really rare, I'd guess you could get into one for less than $2k--more like $1,500??
