Since you guys look like you already have alot of experience with Raptors, figured I'd ask you this question.
I know the towing capacity for the Raptor isn't that great due to the rear suspension setup. I've heard that this was improved for the 2011 models that can now tow 8k lbs. Do you know if this is just for the supercrew or the extended cab too? Are there any mods can be done that don't ruin the capability of the suspension, but still let you tow a bit more? How about the Deaver springs?
I'd love to get a Raptor, but I'd like it to be able to tow my Jeep on a wheeling trip a few times a year. Just a Cherokee with bolt ons, so nothing super heavy with tons of steel welded to it and huge axles/tires.
Thanks guys.

Whats your set up weigh? Possibility of a weight distributing hitch? A custom long travel airbag setup may also be your solution..

I'm not too sure, I'd have to weigh the Jeep. Trailer would be a standard 16-18 foot steel trailer, dual axles, wooden deck.
Can't say I really have anywhere around here to use the Raptor to its full potential, so it'd be used for a lot of street driving. But I wouldn't want to kill the offroad ability if I happened to find a stretch of beach or dunes on a trip somewhere. I've just heard the towing capacity is only around 6k lbs, which I'd think the Jeep and trailer would be damn close to.

Im betting your trailer is around 1800lbs. The internet says your stock cherokar was 5k. Add tube, 40s, 1 tons, gear, and youre at 6k. 7800lbs is a decent estimate, and a weight distribution hitch may be enough. You got the brakes, and drivetrain. The only thing to worry about is rear springs. Keep your tongue weight correct and you should be fine.
EDIT: just saw youre stockish, I misread your post. You may be up to a thousand lbs less than I thought.

Haha yeah, just stock axles, 35's and some armor. Maybe a few hundred pounds over stock. Kinda surprised this tin can even weighed 5k lbs. Specs say the max towing is 6k lbs for the supercab Raptors, so I guess I'd be slightly over. I'd think trailer brakes and keeping the Jeep centered on the trailer would help out a lot.

I've wondered the same thing with my buggy. It is super light and doesn't even feel like anything is back there when being pulled by a regular truck. I know I would be under the 6k rating but still the wear on it going across a couple of states sometimes.
