OK, I'm on my way home from the Littleton meet and greet. I pull out of the parking lot and something is making this clunk noise. clunk clunk clunk, speading up as I spead up. Only in 1st gear, only on acceleration, only in 2 wheel drive. It doesn't do it in 4 wheel drive. Cant tell if its front or back. any ideas?

I think its the tranny mount. I had a friend drive it while I watched, and the ass end of the tcase is hopping up and down pretty bad. Gonna replace it with a polly mount.

check your control arm mounts. the factory welds suck.
check the welds at the frame for cracks, and the axle mounts also.
pics of my lower control arm mount which tore off on the axle with about 1,200 miles on the jeep

I haven't had factory contol arms, or mounts for a long time though. It's not the tranny mount either. Checked that today. All the lug nuts are tight, ujoints are good. The way it sounds, and when it happens, makes me think that the chain in the tcase is stretched. Doesn't Tera make a heavy duty drive chain?

If it is none of those nor the engine mount I would check the transfer case. I had that problem now that I think about it. One of the clutch thingama-bobbers on the hub assembly came out from under that spring clip. It caused part of the shift ring, hub assembly and syncro to float and smack into each other tearing up the teeth.
