just moved from arizona to alaska and i am having major problems with rotors warping only when under -10 degrees when in my heated garage with a micrometer and a feeler guage says it is with in the .0035 range it reads. 002 when warm but it wont roll below zero it has no scaring or blueing and i had them turned with no luck.any ideas would be welcome .thanks

Are you sure it is your rotors warping? Maybe the diff oil, wheel bearing grease, etc, is just *really* thick at the low temperatures.

yes i thought of that too. i put full synthetic in the diffs because of the lockrights and bearings are new and also packed with synthetic grease and checked for wear but all look good .right now its snowing here and for a short time in 2wd the left wheel will drag on the snow but only if i park over night out side and not in the garage

Maybe your caliper is stuck?????Just something to check.

stuck caliper sounds possible. If you have ADD there could be a problem with that. I've never heard of cold warping a rotor, but I suppose it might happen. Since you've got the tools you might have to get out in the cold and measure it. I don't know...

thanks for the imput . this weekend i am going to rebuild the calipers and seals put fresh brake fluid in and see what happens .would predrilled vented rotors hold moisture or ice up in extreme temps ? i saw downey sell a nice set .

Sorry I can't say what the cause for your problem is. I CAN tell you, I've had no noticable troubles on my 93s factory rotors down to -58. To be fair, that was with the stock IFS rotors. I'm not sure what will happen this winter with my SAS setup.

well i took it all apart and found nothing . i left it out tonight and see what happens right now its reading -8 .so i will see in the morning . i guess i get to buy some new stuff for the runner if the rebuild did not do the trick.
