Yup. I'm a puss. Going out all week to KOH and havn't been there except last year to watch the LCQ at back door. I don't wanna be "that guy" that every ones talking about who got stuck in the middle of nowhere/in the way/hurt/lost/dead. So where can a guy putt around and watch other people do crazy stuff and get back to camp to enjoy a nice beverage safely? Competition day as well as week nights? party spots? Thanks guys:beer:

without seeing the course map, its kinda hard to say-----
but it would also depend on what you were looking for---- rocks or high speed stuff ?!!
any of the high ground would give a panarama view of the goings on---

Back door like you mentioned is easy to get to. Last year I saw a Cadillac car near Chocolate Thunder.
I go out there all the time in a 2WD stock truck and have never had a problem. I just follow my rule of if it looks stupid to try, it probably is. The sand that surrounds most of the north and east side of the lake bed usually packs well and is easy to get through especially after the traffic that goes on during the week. I was just out there today at both the spots I mentioned and could easily of got a car to either of them. Surprisingly, the ground didn't get torn up much at all from the recent storms for the most part.

Got our Subaru Forester most places last year. Backdoor/Sledge/Jack.
Was only a little dodgy running across the lakebed itself where it had got a little sticky in the rain before the race week. I don't think that's a problem this year. If you see a light green Forester this year say hi. Anyone know how accessible Trapdoor is to a lowish clearance 4wd?

Thanks guys. My rigs pretty capable, I'm just avoiding breakage and headaches. Funds are tapped out just to get the time off and broken parts would really bring the suck... but since I'm out there I would like to check out the area and maybe play on easier trails. No cage, by myself and avoiding darwin kinda thing:D

We went everywhere in our bone stock 28" tired 4-door JK rental. Talk about fun! :D
We got lost trying to follow the race course back to camp from aftershock after dark the night before the race. 3 hours later we got 3G signal and were able to navigate our way out to 247 and back to camp. :homer:
I was amazed at the places that thing went with its low clearance and tiny tires. I also can't believe we didn't blow a tire. We did use the skid-plates a LOT and the shocks had seen better days when we returned it.
