: 96 isuzu 4x4

Just bought a 96 isuzu trooper, my first 4x4, is the 4x4 on the fly, or do i have to lock the wheels, if so how do i do it?

If it does not have automatic locking hubs it is shift on the fly. I believe a 96 is SOTF, but you might want to get hold of an owners manual and verify. Or at least look on the visor sticker.

Any of the 2nd gen Troopers are going to be auto hubs...or drive flanges...so it is SOTF.

Just look at the front hubs (center caps) if you can't see a rotatable piece then it's auto...and I think most said Auto hubs on them. If they are stock wheels and they have a center cap, they are also auto or drive flanges.

Not all 2nd gens are SOTF...that didn't come in until 95 or 96. If it has locking hubs it is not SOTF.

OH...I thought they stopped the locking hubs in 88 or 89. My bad. I guess I never did learn that much about the Troopers.
