So what are you guy's doing with your fuel cell vent lines and EFI? My stock system's vent ran to a charcoal/purge valve canister, and then to the intake plenum. Now that I've chopped and bobbed, there isn't a convenient place to mount the canister, and engine bay space is at a premium now.
I want to run the comps this spring, and was wondering if a closed system will be required, or can I simply vent to the atmosphere with a check-valve to prevent spillage?
How are you guy's doing it?

Mine has a really nice stainless braided line coming out of the rollover vent, it then dumps out of my passenger side rear wheel well :P

I got rid of the charcoal canister and use the vent on the fuel cell cap. Works fine for me.

You need to have a check valve at the tank and then rout the house past the left and right sides of the tank. The end of the hose should be lower than the bottom of the tank and at the opposite side from witch it attaches.
hope that made sence.

Got filter? :D
With the original charcoal canister, the air is drawn through the air cleaner. So your tank gets filtered air into it.
I've seen fuel tanks with lots of crud from years of a non-filtered air vent. Ya, takes years... but is just a pain in the rear when you get so much crud in there to start clogging up the fuel filter or plugging the fuel line. I just added a fuel filter to the air vent to keep the dust/dirt out of the tank.
I know, I know... just drive on non dusty roads. :D

Excellent Point Tom. The only thing I would like to add is it doesnt take as long as you might think. A shit load of wheelin in Hollister, twice in Oregon (the dustiest trails I've ever seen) and twice down Choke Cherry Canyon in Farmington NM and my cell has all kinds of crap in it, a filter is mandatory in my opinion.

Are you guy's having any issues with your ecu tripping a fault as a result of the purge valve no longer being used?
My other thought is that the engine management system may rely on the extra fuel being dumped into the plenum when the purge of the vapor happens. Would/could a lean conditon exist with out the vapor dumping/purging? My gut tells' me it's not enough fuel to worry about, but my gut's been wrong before!
What did you do with your sensors/purge valves (if you had one)? Just leave it dangling? :P

I just capped off the vent line on mine. Works well and I don't have any buildup problems in my tank. I just pulled out the pump last month for servicing and drained the tank, nothing but clean gas came out.

My injection is TBI so its N/A, however it would set a code on later model engine management systems if you simply unplugged it. There are ways to do away with it via propper wiring, custom ECM or PROM's depending on aplication.

There can not be a lean condition due to this because the ECU does not lean the system when it sends a signal to open the purge solenoid, it leans the system only when the O2 sensor senses a rich condition. No purgn', no richn', no leanin' - get it?:D

Thanks mrtwstr! Just the info I was hoping to see!
Got it!
