Guys,
I just bought myself some 404 axle and was woundering if it is possible to convert the front axle to a RHS drop. I was thinkink that I could just cut and swap the axle tubes. But I have now seen some pictures that show how the diff lock works by locking the long axle to the hemisphere. So now Im thinking that if I swaped the short axle to the RHS then the diff lock wouldnt work??

Any ideas?

It's not a simple procedure by any means.

In a nutshell, the housing work is extensive because it isn't a uniform shape side to side, plus it's a double wall housing.

The long side shaft can be re-used because its splines are longer. But you are correct in thinking that the short side shaft then needs replaced for the locker.

That said, we do the conversion.
