Do you have anymore pics of this beast?? Please post them if so. Do you know what kind of beadlocks he's running??

I can see the lower links up front, but what has he done with the uppers??

Also,
is that tie-rod and ram mounted in single shear above the knuckle?? Thanks,

Sean

Dirk is not much of a web-wheeler............

Basic specs...

383ci, SM465, Atlas 4.3, 2.5 tons with detroit, front and rear steer.
Land cruiser frame. Custom aluminum tub (front) so engine could be pushed back to miss front axle.

A local small shop helped with fabrication and design.

Suspension geometry.....I have no idea

I am sure I will receive more pics some time later.....he is out shooting defenseless animals right now.

ohh, i know BJonRoids, it's all good!

Someday mine will look that good. But now the $$ has to go into function, not form. All I'm saying is... No one said ANYTHING bad about the rockwells, even the usual naysayers replied with positive comments...

Is there a change in the wheeling society's opinion on these axles?

BJ On Roids
11-17-2002, 03:23 PM
for big cheap and strong, and they are starting to get recognition, especially, but mainly due to price

mogs are cool, mog 9s are awe inspiring

portals, are ok, 35spline 9s, with arbs, and big outers, are problably gunna eventually be more popular than portals, cause portals are too high, too much weight up top, and increase your COG badly enough and are tough to fit under your engine despite that i still want some and think they are the shiznit!!!

D60s are sweet too!!

although everything has advantages and disadvantages, width, parts availability, aftermarket accessories, costs, wheel options, locker options, weight, ground clearance, size difficulty of fitment, availability or parts, what others on the trails are running, and blah blah blah

i still think yours looked cool as a hardtop with rockwells and 35 boggers  and 39s aint big enough, you need 44s or bigger!! you are just a ground anchor!!

thats the cool thing about rockcrawling instead of drag cars, with all 9"s we are all running totally different rigs, and anything can happen!

Hell no! I think Rockwells are sic! I love them, If I ever did a rear steer setup, they would be a no brainer!

RustyB, the guy building my fenders, is going to contact you about what it takes to put them under a FJ-40.

I am trying to talk him into Rockwells due to his skills, he can make them work mega cheap!

I am receiving PM's with questions regarding this rig.

First of all, to clarify, this is not my rig.

I will try to collect as much info as possible and pictures from Dirk. I will then make an new post. This may take some time.

I will also get the name, location, and number of the shop that helped him with fabrication, etc.

over and outahere

I have been here in KY for almost two years and I have only wheeled once in that time. (At Badlands over a year ago, THANK YOU Space Ghost, the steering arm is still welded to the knuckle!)
I have two Cruisers here in KY and have not worked on either one since I got stationed here.
I am now a drill sergeant and my average day is a MINIMUM of 13 hours, average is in at 0430 and out at 2000, ( 8pm for you civilians.)
Not uncommon to come in at 0500, leave at midnight and be back at 0500, sometimes without a day off for 30 days.
The point I am trying to make is, I have not worked on anything (not even washing, waxing, vacuming, or changing my own oil since I became a drill), but the pics of this rig most def motivated me like nothing else ever has, to go light up the welder, or at least get it out of storage.
Of course the fact that when I take off the drill hat and go back to Colorado, I might run into his rig and it would make my SO, V-8, 35" Boggered 40 run like a puppy with it's tail between its legs, doesn't hurt any either!!
I guess I can sell my project d60's and get some duece and a half fronts.
THANKS KMAN
