I'll try to be there to spectate. Are you guys going to do any wheeling that afternoon or the day after (Monday)?

March 19th is a Saturday, there may be some playing after the race or Sunday but nothing has been talked about that. We have a few cool spots on the club property to play and a really good spot only a half mile away from track we play at alot so its easy to head out for an hour or two after race or something maybe.

Last call for racers. Sounds like we have 2 for sures and 2 maybes for cars. Anyone else planning on racing?

You are a maybe. Might be more of a test & tune / play day than a race if we don't get a few more cars.

how are vehicles classed for this race, and the Wild West 100? i read in one of the threads that it was primarily based on the type of suspension that is ran, but is it also classed based on how much HP your pushing or engine size? for example: can a stock suspension Toyota Tacoma run a 600hp (i know its unreasonable) engine and run in the stock class because its suspension is stock? or would he have to run in the modified or pro class due to the higher hp motor? or can you take a chevy luv or ford ranger, and run a 300hp motor, with toyota suspension and run in the stock class because you're not running bypass shocks, or reservoir shocks? if you could shed some light on this i'd be grateful,

The winter baja is going to turn into a winter play day. Not enough trucks to put on a race but everyone is welcome to come play on the track if they would like. Let me know if you plan on coming and at what time.

ok, so if i understand this correctly:
2.5. Engine
2.5.1. Stock displacement naturally aspirated engines only. Engine in factory location.
2.5.2. No nitrous, alcohol, blowers, turbos.
2.5.3. Factory fuel tank allowed. Fuel cell recommended.

you are able to run a supercharged motor as long as it is manufactured stock with that supercharger? or for the stock class is this referring to using only the stock motor with no modifications?

Just suspension.

After running the Wild West 100, it became clear to me, too.

The guys who have a well-tuned, well-dialed suspension with lots of practice can kick the butts of the guys with a big engine and a poor suspension any day of the week.

An auto tranny, moderately deep axle gears, and moderate horsepower would work great. If Powell's course is anything like the Columbus course, you've got a lot of twisty, turny, slow down, speed up, up hill, down hill, repeat course. There simply isn't a lot of opportunity for massive horsepower or an insanely high top end speed to shine. Quick, nimble, and reliable will win.

Stock style engine for stock class. I always thought a Dakota R/T with the 5.9 would be a good truck. Powell's track is some faster, wider, and more open over the whole track. There are only a handful of spots it ISN'T wide enough to pass. Worst thing about Powell is it can get dusty and since its half as long of lap (3.5 miles) you might see lap traffic more often.

I went by the "If they caught you, they've already passed you". Not as many places to WOT pass in Columbus, but as soon as I knew someone came up behind me, I was looking for places to let them by.

4-banger in an FToy wasn't competitive. :laughing:....but a ginormous V8 means you're carrying more weight, more torque, more expensive suspension to carry that weight, need more fuel (bigger cell, more stops, etc.). Small v8 or a peppy v6 would give you the best weight:HP.

4.3 vortec baby!!!! haha O and not knowing when to lift up off the gas pedal helps also!

I am running a stock Mopar 5.2L and auto. Planning to add a shift kit to the trans but other than that, don't plan to change anything.:D

Have you guys ever thought of putting on a TTC type event? That would be alot of fun and I think you would have a decent turnout.

we haven't. We are getting a decent rock/obstacle course built a little more each year. Bozeman, Mt does a good TTC type event.

Yeah I have heard about the Bozeman event...but you are closer:jester:!!!
