any1 using the S/S 31 spline axles? i thought that if they were good enough for drag racing, they sould be good for rock crawlin....... for the price they should be beefy, right???

how has your luck been with them?

more math. do all the multiplication of torque and you will find that w/ good off road gearing and a normal motor generally you are putting a lot more torque to the ground than the drag car.

account for tire size and gearing.

but aside from that strange makes good parts...they are likely to be comparable to moser or dutchman shafts so they should hold up as well.

is there some way that i can convert a 79' bronco rear end into
1 1/2" axles?? i know i can by the shafts, but would i have to change the ends on the housing???

It's just bearings shafts and diff. I don't think you have to change the 3rd, but I did because I always see the stock ones broken at the pinion support. I ran a strange 3rd. strange spool. and moser shafts.

Hey silly. Just a thought. You're also not dumping the clutch at redline behind a big block with 16" warmed up slicks ;)

all this reminds me of the arguement that rockcrawlers are harder on their axles than desert racers  Ya think moser makes a different 40 spline 60 shaft for rockcrawlers than some dude with a hemi-cuda? nah..

(CURRIE) a set of 1 1/2" 35 spline 9" axles: $400 for a pair, (that comes with bearings and backing plates)

i would need to by a whole new 3rd member set up for 35 splines
from JEGS with a spool, without ring and pinion is $860
