Is the T-case the same in a Mighty Max as in other Mitsubitsi's. Or is it a stand alone one off T case. I cant find much on line about their quality or abilitys. Any insight on if it should be used or scrapped. Anyone doubling them up and if so with what other Tcase.

If you have the 4g64 get a adapter for Toyota tranny and use Toyota cases, or divorced Toyota cases behind a 2wd Mitsubishi tranny. Vitally 0 options for stock t-cases.

Depending on the model you have, Oz guys sell either a 2.85 or 3.15 low gear kit for the Mitsubishi t-cases. Similarly, if you have an automatic, there are gents who've bolted 231-cases up and no reason a Toyota-doubler wouldn't work. There are fewer options for the sticks, as far as using other vendors.

All 4 cylinder Mitsubishi Pickups use the KM100 transfercase with a 23 spline input. The 6 cylinder pickups use a KM120 transfercase like the 6 cylinder Montero's. Because the transfercase is integrated and chain driven, upgrades are very limited. If you are going with a minimal lift (less than 3 inches) you should be fine using the stock transfercase and upgrading to the Gearmaster Crawler gears from http://www.Marks4wd.com (http://www.Mark4wd.com)

If you could provide us with some additional information, (model year, engine, manual or automatic transmission and what kind of wheeling do you plan to do with the vehicle)?

Sorry, thought they all might be the same. Its a 92 3.0 mighty max with a 5 speed 4x4. Its a strong runner but the front end is shot and I dont really want to sink anything into the truck the way it is. My plan is to stuff everything I can into this frame. Im going to trim the body panels and dzus them onto the frame. Use the dash all the smog equipment everything. The goal is to keep it street legal enough to drive through the state parks and to the trails if needed.
I have been driving it for about 3 years now and like the power and pick up. Thinking for now I will mount the existing trans and tcase with the thought of changing to an AW4 auto down the road being I have one. A pic of the truck and the frame it will be going to. I will be running a D60 rear and a 9 inch. front.
