You will need that 8:1 just to move the weight of the tranny and t-case. Guy down here has a 2.5ton case on his truck and the thing is larger than my 302.

pretty sure it was a richmond.

i was debating on using the 2.5 rock air shift tcase, so that i can keep the 2.5 dshafts and yokes.

then a friend said i could use the richmond with 8:1, with the 2:1 rock case, with the rocks 6.72 for a crawl of 107.53. this would be as indestructable as it could be? might be overkill?

thats what im debating... i am planning on running 46" xmls in a buggy. i figured all the wieght would be low, so shouldnt hurt me too bad.

Here is a pic of the guy running that same set up you are wanting. His t-case hangs down a god 2 feet below the frame. Looses a lot of GC with that case. But, he just does tug o war with the truck. Those are 5ton Rockwells under it.http://chuckstrucks.net/BIGFORD.jpg

Chuck finished that Izuzu on 72's and rolled it the first time out. (his g/f was driving!!!) LOL
He builds pretty good rigs but charges too much and likes to steal other peoples designs. (Took our hydro steering deign).

The blue ford has an old Cat diesel in it, 5 ton rockwells and the damn t-case is in all honesty larger than the motor in my truck. Its a good 3ft tall.
