Do you have a shot from above? Are you going to just run the three bars uptop?

i'll try and get a shot from the top. over the driver and passenger there is the 3 bars that you can see. i was/am considering putting another bar over each of the front seats. it would connect to the main hoom in the center of the rig and angle outwards towards the front. basically putting a diagonal bar above both the passenger and driver. i have almost talked myself out of it though. i do not think it needs it for strength but i would help with any possibility of a rock coming in through the hole in a roll. i just still have not decided for sure. as for the rear section, the bent bar on each side that runs to the rear has a diagonal bar that connects to the main hoop in the center and angles back and connects at the bend you can see. it is hard to see these bars in the pic's. i will be adding a bar connect the two rear bars at the bends. i just have not done that yet. like i said i am not done yet. i am looking to have it plenty strong yet keep it as light as possible. i want it safe but not over done. i'll just have to keep working and see where it takes me. hopefully i'll be pretty much done with it after next weekend. i just don't get the time i would like to work on it or i would have it done already and working on swapping the drive train in it already.

well that is what i am shooting for. it will be a bit higher than it is in the pic's. i just need to find out exactly how much. as i have said in the past, if it is too high i'll sell the 44044's and buy a set of stock 7 leaf waggy springs from jc whitney. time will tell though. i really like how tall it sits right now. it is 76-78" to the top of the cage. i'll just have to see how it turnes out and go from there i guess.

I think it looks really good and am excited to see how it turns out. I fight with the idea of the overhead bars too. There is nothing nicer then being able to take the top off and have almost a full convertable again, with it clear up above you but for safty sake I am not sure. Keep up the good work!

one problem, your engine will probably have to be really low in this to clear underneath the bonnet, or have you already measured it all? if so, how much does it clear by? and what engine are you running? is it a low sort of engine?

im just going on what i see in the pics, its probably a fair bit different in real life

looks like you are coming along with it. is it going to be a three or four seater? awesome work dude!

yes it will be orange and black. as i posted in an earlier thread i will be transplanting the drive train from my jeep into this rig. it'll have my 99 vortec 350, th400, atlas, d60 front and 14bolt rear and 42 tsl's.

i have measured and it'll fit. i thought of that before i cut the body and grill down and additional 2.5".

it'll be a 3 seater. i am not sure if i'll actually run a full size rear seat yet or not though. i just made room for my son who is 1year old. i'll be making a seat for him. i may just hook it up with a full size seat though. time will tell. the seat in the pic is just one i am using to mock everything up.

I really like that you kept the weight down low for stability. It looks like it'll get it...

I'm going to finish my Tranny swap on my Pig on that Friday hopefully....I may have to come out to Laynes to get my "plate" resurfaced before I reinstall everything.

He will probably be the only person open after Thanksgiving...

Sweet. If you have your 2F layin' around someplace would you mind measuring the step height on the flywheel? You would realy help me out.

TIA

this fj did not have a motor in it when i bought it. even so it had had a chevy small block before because it still had the dual exhaust and a th350 tranny. that was one reason i decided to buy it. i knew the th350 to toy t-case adapter would be worth something. anyway sorry but i can't get your measurement.
