i was rock climbing this weekend and then i had a big "booom" so i toke apart both sides expecting a broken birf, and nothing...so i put i back together and try to play somemore, well when i would attempt to climb, it would push the front end like i was in 2wd and make a cracking ratcheting noice....the hubs are fine too...going to tear into soon, just hoping to talk my self into it not being the ring gear:eek:

Silly you - if you didn;t find the problem, why did you not pullt he diff while you had it apart?

Hubs, birfields, or diff - it's gotta be one of the 3 :p

well i toke the short side apart, that seemed to be where the noice was coming from, but nothing, so i put it back together...then went to play some more and then the noise seemed to come from the long side, so went back to the hotel and toke that side apart...no soup!

Check my thread about the Birfield King - I thought the same thing and when I pulled the diff the carrier bearing cap had come loose and the ring gear was missing the pinion :p

Could be anything ;)

do you have a locker in the front? i ran in to this problem with my detriot soft locker up front. it busted and would only work if i was going in a straight line, if i tried to turn it would pop and when it did it sounded like it was coming from the hubs. i with the other guys though,, if you had the axles out you should have checked the 3rd member too:flipoff2:

There is your problem. Yota's don;t like you to sleep in hotel!

Since it ain't either birfield, my bet would be a problem somewhere in the difff. Sounds like you gotta take it apart a little further - sorry.
