: F-Toy pic thread
Ricks72ntx 02-26-2011, 01:30 AM Been lurking and looking on here for awhile and never seen an official f-toy pic thread like they have for exo cages, 4runners, whatever in the toyota section.
So since most of us are spread around the nation how about post up some pics of during the build, wheeling, or comps. :smokin:
As long as its some what F-toy post up:

2004 - first wheelin trip. on the lake bed
2005 at TDS more and more changes happen every month and don't stop for 7 years:laughing:
2006 - janurary, new wiring, dash, tires, all sorts of stuff. this was the 3rd dash put in and i feel like i got it right this time and it became the model for a lot of other ftoys. the dash is still in the car today
2009 - only little stuff change through the years. gotpropane.com, motor mounts and shock mounts. in 2009 for prep for KOH, she go overhauled. i finally lost the huge skid plate and got a 2" drop regular crossmember. i like it so much better. more room in cab and better driveline angles.

can you snap some upclose pics of how you have your propane tanks mounted? i need to run 2 tanks in mine and will shamelessly steal your idea!

Calico. Out by Barstow. Unfortunately my Formula Four has never been out of California. I broke a hub in that spot and that eventually took out my Longfield stub shaft.

sure. its a big W with the straps welded to the tubes. here are some pics i found that sort of show it. its important to know that the W if flared out at the top. it just doesnt run straight into the tube. if it does, the propane tank will not set in right. actually, i think this was john james idea and fatty is the only one to bend them up like this. there are only 2 cars with this design.
Can you snap a couple pics of said dash?
its been upated since then but its the same thing. the thing i changed is: i put the wiring box and all wiring underneath the top panel. i removed everything from the firewall. having everything on the firewall was a big PITA.

I'd like to get it comp worthy. Needs a little bit of work, but for the price I got it for it's no biggie. It's gonna be more of a trail rig and showing up all the full-size one tonners I run with.

Thanks harley. Short term plans are stickies, hydro assist, and 4.7s. Everything else is good to go. Runs like a top. Chris put some money into this thing, and let it go cheap. Still too good to be true. I sat in it for like an hour yesterday, just playing with it.

81_4xToy 04-20-2011, 10:45 PM Can someone post some pics of an extended cab/ longbed frame used with a regular f-toy chassis to make more room for a rear seat? I've searched and searched. I've come across several comments about doing this, just haven't found a known pic of it. I recently bought an extended cab frame to do this is why I ask.

it doesnt make a difference. the ext cab frame is longer in the back. the bend in the frame that goes higher for the bed is in the same place
rick james 04-21-2011, 04:37 PM and a poser
How well does the winch work for a suck down? With it wrapped around the front hanger, doesnt it pull the axle forward, because the shackles are in the rear?

I respectfully disagree--they're ~10" longer in the flat section under the cab (at least on a 3rd gen!). I cut this section out of my donor frame. I wish I hadn't and wish I had left it there and cut the excess off the rear to leave back seat room like rick james is suggesting.

This is why I'm curious to see one done. It'll be a while before I'll be able to order a chassis. I'd just like an idea of what mine will turn out like. I definitely need the room for the rear seat.

i am sure you are right. in 2003 when we were having the same short bed frame search. i saw 2 frames side by side. one and long bed and one a short bed and the long bed was only longer in the rear. maybe it was a certain year or maybe the guy who got the frames was all mistaken.

I freaking love this pic, thanks for posting it Hobie!
may 2004. CALROCS. first ftoy event ever. kevin spotted for lisa in camo's ftoy. dave cole spotted for john james in re-todd's ftoy. no body who owned an ftoy drove one that comp, lol. Lisa won the comp.
2005 Cal ROCS. the last OG CalROCS event ever held. there were 8 ftoys. in the pic, dave cole who spotted for re-todd looks on as i roll off this rock. tim florian was my spotter. i got out and we rolled it the ftoy over on our own strength to break the plane of the finish gate and complete the course :D
