CHEVY DANA 60 HYDRO RAM MOUNT & TRUSS
Artec Industries is excited to announce the NEW Chevy Front Dana 60 Hydraulic Ram Mount and Truss. This heavy duty truss system is designed to take serious abuse and protect some of the most vital and expensive components of your vehicle - your steering. The unique design places your ram in its most affective and strongest location - close to the axle centerline not high above it, and yet protects it from the rocks with the integrated 1/4" thick skidplate. Fits both PSC motorsports and Howe Performance double-ended hydraulic rams. Works perfectly with our ULTIMATE Dana 60 High Steer Arms giving you the strongest hydraulic steering solution on the market. The 3/8" thick truss extends end-to-end of the axle tube providing not only a location for mounting your 3 and 4 links, but also truly reinforcing the axle itself against bending and shearing. The unique gusseting design allows both the truss and ram mount to completely reinforce eachother in every direction.
Features include:
•3/8" thick mild steel truss top and 1/4" mild steel ram mount and gussets. Precision CNC cut and bent for great fitment.*
•Truss is low profile allowing link joints to be mounted with ideal geometry - about 8 inches from the axle centerline.
•Truss spans entire length of axle for complete reinforcment of the axle tubes - not just for mounting links.
•Truss is reinforced using interlocked 1/4 thick gussets for maximum strength and easy assembly.
•Truss is tied into Ram Mount with a 1/4" thick bridge which also further protects your ram from trail damage
•Ram Mount and Gussets feature drainage holes for easy cleaning and reduced weight.
•Ram Mount doubles as an axle skid plate, allowing protection for your ram and tie rods an spans the length of the axle tube for more reinforcement against bending and shearing.
•Ram Mount incorporates an additional 1/4" thick bolt on skid plate in front of differential to allow easy removal of gears. Skid plate is bolted using included countersunk bolts which hold up to trail damage better than other style bolts and don't get hung up on obstacles.
•Fits both PSC motorsports and Howe Performance* doubled ended hydraulic rams.
•Clearanced to use with rotated knuckles and pinions.
•Includes a weld-on A-blade logo for ram mount and a A-blade logo cutout in the bridge.
•Includes additional 1/4" thick gusset for welding removable skid plate to an aftermarket mild steel differential cover. (Optional use; will require trimming)
•Overall low profile design means your axle is stronger, sleaker, easier to fit into any vehicle, and less likely to interfere with rocks or other parts of your vehicle such as your oil pan.
The Artec Industries Chevy Dana 60 Ram Mount and Truss is simply the best available on the market. Get yours today.
NOTE: This kit requires general welding and fabrication skills. Welding should only be done by a competent welder. Artec Industries implies no guarantees or warranties and is not liable for improper installation.
*Some grinding and fitment may be required when installing this kit. Every axle varies slightly and some fabrication may be required.

Artec 03-07-2011, 12:16 PM Thanks for the orders.
For those with Ford axles, what year axle do you have? We will likely have to produce at least a couple Ford designs due to the variances in years.
VTcivil 03-07-2011, 07:19 PM the 78/79 Ford high pinion is super popular and is what I have. i would love to get this for my ford 60. i also have the reid racing knuckles so I love your high steer arms that tie to the reid arms.
VTcivil 03-08-2011, 08:21 AM Let me know if you need me to template my front 78 Ford d60. I could get it templated and in CAD if it helps you turn a new version around quickly.

Artec 03-25-2011, 09:18 PM The FUTURE IS NOW. We cut out the Chevy D60 truss this afternoon. I'll have it up on the website on Monday when I get pics.
Ford version will follow later in the week. Its finalized and just needs to be cut out. Same goes for the Ford version with the ram mount.
14 bolt rear was also cut today and I'll release it on Monday as well. That's 4 new trusses in a week!

Artec 03-28-2011, 05:03 PM I'll work on the later Ford ones this week. Should go quickly since I have the earlier Ford's done. We cut them out today but didn't quite get them bent up yet so I guess I'll have to get pictures tomorrow.
Today was so busy in fact, we had to have a few extra guys helping out in shipping. Thanks for keeping us busy.
kjdavis 03-28-2011, 10:51 PM anxiously waiting for an 88 Ford version! :)
So does the pirate4x4 discount code apply to these as well? :D
Artec 03-29-2011, 09:16 AM Pirate coupon does not apply during the introductory sale. It applies to all other items that are not on sale.
I'll just take a moment to say that when we introduce a new product, we'll almost always offer the product at 20% off. This is the most and only time we'll offer our products at this deep of a discount. We will offer sales from time to time but they won't discounted as much as the introductory sale.
So if you are in the market for one of our new products, the best price you'll get is during the introductory sale. Pick it up today for the best pricing.
That being said, I'm going to extend the sale on this Chevy Dana 60 Ram Mount and Truss for two more weeks. Normally it'll be $399 but you can pick it up during this sale at $319 until 4/11/2011.
The Ford version will have its own introductory sale, so don't worry that you won't have a chance to buy it at a great price.

Artec 04-11-2011, 04:56 PM I can't say it would work for sure with the solid axle set-up, the ram might end up a little low. Shoot me over some dimensions of where your arms and tie rod holes are and I can check it out for you. -Artie

HI H.O. SILVER 04-11-2011, 08:45 PM I'd also be really interested in a Dodge Dana 60 truss. I have an 02 cummins and don't want to swap the cad 60 out. I'm sure it's pretty low on your priority list, but if you every built one that worked with the factory coil mounts and cleared track bar and steering and had a mount for Ram assist instead of just full hydro, I'd for sure buy it. Maybe rear truss's for the dodge 70's and 80's as well?
Shefron 04-11-2011, 10:37 PM Just recieved the trusses from UPS. Best package parts I have ever recieved thru ups. Parts look just as good in person.
Thanks

Jeff
Basically we are going to need to know where the mounting locations would be for the linkages between the ram and arms. We already know where the ram will be located, so really we just need the general location of where you could drill your holes relative to the axle housing so we can see how far off the ram is. (Most likely you will need to mount the linkages under the arms.) The linkages should end up pretty level and slightly angled back towards the ram when the tires are straight.
The way that this truss was developed was using the double shear setup found on our Ultimate Dana 60 Arms (http://www.artecindustries.com/High-Steer-Arms_c_126.html). It places the linkage mount midway between the arm and the stock TRE mount location, maximizing the strength of the knuckle.
Hopefully this helps, feel free to give us a call and we can talk more in depth. -Artie 520-906-9977

Artec 04-21-2011, 03:01 PM I'm working on getting to those and the late 80s ram mounts and trusses as soon as I can. We've been slammed and my R&D time has taken a hit. Hopefully early next week, I'll have everything done.

7.5unlimited 04-30-2011, 07:51 AM I need a ford dana 60 rear truss that I will be using on a TJ setup. Will the truss allow enough room for the spring perches? Great looking products guys keep up the great work!
Artec 04-30-2011, 04:59 PM I will be working on some vehicle specific version in the near future that'll make axle swaps really easy. You could probably modify the existing version if you really needed it.
On another note, we finished prototype testing on a Chevy dana 60 leaf spring version ram mount. I should have it available for sale soon.
toyworx 04-30-2011, 07:21 PM Got my 14 bolt truss. Looks great. I like the "insert tab A into slot B" concept. Goes together nice.
Artec 05-04-2011, 12:57 PM Thanks. We thought it would make it really easy to assemble and line up properly. A few tack welds and the whole thing holds together making it easy to install.
We are shipping alot of the truss and ram mount today. Thanks for all the orders. I cut out some of our new trusses too, so hopefully I'll have pictures up by the end of the day.
I know I have a goofy narrowed Dodge 60 front - is there a ram only mount available? This is a linked vehicle, double ended ram. Thanks!

swirvin21 05-11-2011, 05:51 AM how far down the list is a 2nd Gen Dodge D60? Don't care about coil buckets or anything, just bare axle since everything is getting changed anyway.
Also, you have anyone running leafs on your rear truss? Pics?
Artec 05-11-2011, 01:12 PM Alright here is the Chevy Front Dana 60 Leaf Spring Ram mount. Instead of just offering the ram mount, we decided to build a small truss on the axle to which the ram mount can tie into for added strength. This truss bolts up to a provided 3/8" thick leaf spring plate for even more strength. Shipping will begin on Monday.

I don't have a dodge d60 here to R&D from. PM me and maybe we can help eachother out. I have quite a few other axles that I've already started work on but it'll probably be a variation of a current truss so it could be pretty quick. I'd be interested in knowing the specs on the coil buckets on that axle too.
I don't have any pics on a leaf sprung rear axle with our truss. Most of the orders are on our website and I don't know what the items are going on unless someone sends me pics which is rare.

kjdavis 05-13-2011, 03:51 PM Badass...Ill be ordering soon!
94toytruck 05-13-2011, 04:03 PM I know I have a goofy narrowed Dodge 60 front - is there a ram only mount available? This is a linked vehicle, double ended ram. Thanks!
Need the same thing. Probly narrowed the same amount to bolt into a toyota. A universal ram mount only would be pimp...
Stoodty 05-13-2011, 05:10 PM for the 80's ford truss system do you sell just the truss itself without the ram mount option?
kjdavis 05-14-2011, 12:41 PM Just placed the order for my 80's truss!!! :smokin:
Thanks guys!

Artec 05-14-2011, 12:50 PM Need the same thing. Probly narrowed the same amount to bolt into a toyota. A universal ram mount only would be pimp...
That gonna be a hard thing to do and have it be a similar style. I've received lots of questions about narrowed axle and compatibility with these trusses and ram mounts.
Here's the thing, these ram mounts have a cutout for the casting section. They are also designed to place the ram exactly in the middle of the axle width wise so you have equal length tie rods. The ram mounts end less than an inch before the inner c's. Essentially making this system work to keep you tie rods equal length, you'd have to cut off much of one side of the ram mount and then mount the ram further towards the short side and in many cases that would put one of the ram clamps over the cutout for the center section.
I don't think a universal ram mount is really possible, unless its really barebones and hacked together looking but I'll try to figure out something for you narrowed guys that might satisfy your needs too.
for the 80's ford truss system do you sell just the truss itself without the ram mount option?
We will offer it very soon. The majority of requests were for the integrated ram mount but with a few gusset changes, it becomes just the truss.

I'll try but I have one special truss I'm working on right now thats gonna be first. Should be done by end of the week with that one, then I'll move on to yours.

Stoodty 05-16-2011, 06:28 PM anyone have any reviews or pics of the install yet?
kjdavis 05-19-2011, 09:45 AM Quick question....for the 80's Ford truss that I ordered...will the coilover tabs listed on your site work on it or do you have others specifically for the ford 60? (different angles, etc)
Artec 05-19-2011, 11:06 AM anyone have any reviews or pics of the install yet?
There should be some pics around since there are so many that have gone out the door. Here's some photos we took during our install that are going to go in a tech article we're working on. Gives you an idea of how easy eveything jigs up. Not complete photodocumentation by any means but I had them ready now.

KyleQ 05-19-2011, 12:25 PM Any thoughts on making different rear axle trusses? I would love one of your trusses on a D70HD...
Artec 05-19-2011, 12:33 PM I am definitely making more rear axle trusses. In fact all I've been working on for the past few days are trusses so you'll see some more coming shortly. If its any help, I know for a fact, our Rear Dana 60 truss fits a Dana 70U with very minor trimming. I'm not sure how different the U and HD 70s are but it could work.
My to do list is growing quite a bit now so please be patient with us as we work on developing trusses to fit everyone's needs.
HI H.O. SILVER 05-20-2011, 08:24 AM I don't have a dodge d60 here to R&D from.

Please do.
For anyone interested in helping with development of new trusses and ram mounts, here is a link to a dimensions graphic I made that pretty much gives me some of the dimensions I need (at least for the dana 60). You can adapt is for use with other axles as well, but I'll need additional dimensions for the contours of the cutout. I already have Dana 60s, Dana 44s, and 14bolts here so no need to send casting contour info for those. http://artecindustries.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/truss/Dana60/axle-specs.jpg
PLEASE PM OR EMAIL ME THE DIMENSIONS. ALSO PLEASE PROVIDE DIMENSIONS ACCURATE TO AT LEAST THE 1/8 INCH OR SMALLER. IT REALLY HELPS WHEN MODELING TO HAVE SOMETHING ACCURATE.

Possibly, I'm working on some Dodge Dana 60 ram mount and trusses now so it'll likely be next. If you'd like to see it produced, please help me out by providing the information in the quote below. Thanks.

Artec 06-03-2011, 10:49 AM I posted this on Facebook but figured I'd offer it here as well. We need installed truss photos.
Lets make this more interesting. FREE STICKERS FOR POSTING INSTALLED TRUSS PHOTOS!!!! Two free stickers per truss. If you post alot of pictures, I'll throw in some extra stickers. I really need REAR TRUSS photos so I'll include a couple extra stickers for those too. I know how much you all like stickers :)
You don't need to post a million photos here just one or two of each will do, but please send as many as you'd like to sales@artecindustries.com. This offer will end June 15th. And this applies to any truss too.

Artec 06-03-2011, 01:48 PM Any plans to do a spider 9 housing kit? maybe a 609 kit? Or would the 60 kits work with that w/ mods?
Maybe but it'll be a ways down the road. My to do list is pretty long right now but i have some stock 9 inch housings I'll be doing soon. the 60 kits probably wouldn't work right and I know they wouldn't look as good as a 9inch specific truss.

Artec 06-06-2011, 12:22 PM How wide are the chevy front trusses? I have a narrowed chevy 60 and need to know if it will fit.
truss is 42" and ram mount is 43". It leaves almost 2 inches from the end of the truss to the inner c and a little over 1.375" for the ram mount. Everything is very form fitting to the casting though and the way its set up centers the ram along the axle. If your like most who've cut off 3-4 inches off the long side, it won't work right.

Artec 06-08-2011, 10:27 AM thanks for all the recent Truss orders.
FYI, we're running a little behind since there has been so many trusses ordered recently. We're working hard to catch up and get these shipped in the next few days. Sorry if it ruins any weekend build plans, but if you ordered a truss within the past few days, your order will likely ship in a couple days. PM me if you have any questions.
jdehn 06-08-2011, 07:29 PM Any plans for a 10.25" ford rear truss? I will be using your dana 60 full hydro kit and I'd like to have one of your setups for the rear too. Its a great looking product.

Yes but its on a long list of trusses we'll be developing. If you plan on getting the d60 hydro kit, I wouldn't wait for the rear truss to come out if you can make progress on the front end. They would ship separately anyways.

This was purpose built and isn't the final design. There is some additional development I want to do on this product before we release it which includes mounting the ram lower below the high steer arms so that it will tie into Reid knuckles with our Ultimate high steer arms.
Artec 06-14-2011, 02:04 PM We have lots of the Chevy version in stock and ready to ship. I have a couple of each of the FORD versions ready too for the quickest buyers.

Mind sharing what you came up with? Im waiting on my rear truss to get here (friday) and Ill hopefully finish up the rear and move on to the front 80's D60. Just curious what you came up with for tabs.

Good to hear. I'd like to see it too. I'm up at 4 am designing stuff b/c of our first big monsoon storm of the season is keeping me up.
flatblack51 06-30-2011, 07:23 AM here's what I came up with. only thing is I have to redo the shock hoops cause the angle the C/O is on the tabs otherwise I think the angle is perfect for the natural rotation of travel it will have.
Artec 06-30-2011, 11:07 AM Cool, that's basically what I was going to design, I just hadn't gotten to it yet. So many projects :D
lizard lips 06-30-2011, 11:24 AM Thats pretty nice!! Are you able to get a front shot of that whole axle. And is that a full width 80's Ford??
flatblack51 06-30-2011, 11:29 AM full width 80 ford, yes and it will be blocked cause of the damn jack stand holding the heep up. i'll try though

you had mentioned it but I didn't want my C/O's mounted so high, But it's the only real logical place for them. I think i'm going to have to cut my hood now, oh well not much left of the YJ anyways so might as well.

Artec 06-30-2011, 05:42 PM what if you took it all the way down and over to the upper portion of the C? any advantages/disavantages??
The only reason I didn't is because there are a few different inner c's out there and that surface is in different locations. I know its not alot to ask someone to grind it to fit but I'd rather not deal with the few people that'll complain about it not fitting.
fine nate you win! i'll take some of those too
My bad. My two week quote on designing all this stuff suddenly turned into a couple days with a sudden influx of requests. I should be wrapping up some other brackets in the next day or two. I'll post them up when they're done.
Grendel 06-30-2011, 05:55 PM Just sent that other info, Nate. Let me know what else I can do.
TJ hotness coming, guys. Want to swap a D60 into your TJ? We're working on a kit with Nate, including hydro, arms and a truss system that will mount the suspension links as clean as all get out.

Thanks a bunch. If you can talk to your shock connection about what we discussed, I could use it in my designs. If you can also get me some frame dimensions for the front right over the truss, i can make even more brackets.
Good stuff coming, I can't wait to get back to work tomorrow!

Grendel 07-01-2011, 04:53 AM Pan hard bar bracket for the 80' D60 first!!! Whatcha got brew man!
It's funny that you say that.
flatblack51 07-01-2011, 07:57 AM Why's that? I can't picture what to do for one cause I don't have my highsteers to align the steering and check clearances and kinda crunched for time. I'm stretching a CJ5 and just got my foot in the door to fab stuff for abunch of H1's.
Stoodty 07-01-2011, 08:08 AM i would be IN for that as well.
Grendel 07-01-2011, 08:41 AM Wait for Nate to wake up ;).
Artec 07-01-2011, 11:30 AM stay tuned....I'm working on something :grinpimp:
flatblack51 07-01-2011, 11:41 AM ordered the highsteer stuff today:smokin:
Artec 07-01-2011, 03:22 PM Ok, here's what I came up with. I'll have put a few parts in the assembly to check all clearances but this should work great. The ORI's are at full compression. There will be about a minutes worth of grinding on the ram mount to fit this. What do you think?

dobsogj 07-10-2011, 01:35 PM I have a ford 60. I'm pretty sure it was a 78-79 but I will have to do some measuring to make sure. It was narrowed 2" on the pass (long) side. Can you make a truss with ram and coilover mounts if I gave you some measurements? Or could I modify a full width truss to fit very easily? I don't mind some grinding and cutting. Your trusses look very clean and It would save me a bunch of time to buy one vs build it myself. Next question. I have stock gm kp knuckles on this axle. Will your high steer arms work with them or do they only fit Reid knucles? What is the most backspacing they will work with. Sorry for all the questions or if this has been covered. I have the CC ready to pull the trigger on this and a rear 14 bolt truss. You are makeing some nice stuff keep it up.

I'm working on making NARROWED versions of all our front trusses since we have so many requests. It'll be probably a month though before I get to the 78-79 but if it has only 3 inches of driver side tube, that's the other axle and I'll have that one finished next week. Modifying won't really work because everything is full length and centered to function correctly but I'm sure some have tried, I just haven't seen any.
The high steer arms work on any dana 60 knuckle not just reid. They are confirmed fit on a 17" rim with 4.75 backspacing.
Thanks for the compliment.:)

I just measured and it is 3" tube. The pass side is 22 3/8. I was told by the previous owner it was narrowed 2" on the pass side. Does that sound like it will work with the truss you are working on? I hope cause I kinda got my heart set on a pair of these. Pm me if you don't want to clutter up your thread. Thanks.

Yes, the narrowed versions will allow down to about 19" long tubes. You and a bunch of others are waiting so its good to let everyone know.

Cool. Will the ram still be able to be centered since this truss will be for axles with somewhat varying longside tubes? When do you think they'll be ready? Thanks!!

Yes, the narrowed version will allow the ram to be centered although the mount wouldn't be on an axle such as yours. The Dodge version we have out is the same way and basically the mirror image of the Ford one coming out. You have about 4-5 inches of adjustability side-to-side to center the ram.

Is this made to fit the stated years narrowed down 2.12" on the long side (79 ford long side width)? If so I am interested. I have a 86 narrowed to use a 79 long side shaft and this would be ideal!

Artec 07-26-2011, 12:15 PM Is this made to fit the stated years narrowed down 2.12" on the long side (79 ford long side width)? If so I am interested. I have a 86 narrowed to use a 79 long side shaft and this would be ideal! The short answer is yes it will work. The long answer is this is made to work with the long tube being all the way down to 19.188" long. The 79 long tube is about 22.25 long. The ram mount and truss are centered on the axle with 19.188" long tube. When you have a longer tube the ram mount and truss will no longer be centered but offset to one side. We've designed this however to allow the ram itself to shift over a few inches to allow it to be centered between the ends. You'll have about 3 inches of bare tube on the pass side. That said, the coilover mounts and the panhard mounts won't be in their intended location so they won't work. A set of standard tabs could replace the truss tabs and I'm working on the standard panhard mount that'll mount to tube.
x2 I'm very interested in a panhard bar bracket as well.
Any plans for a narrowed 78-79 truss?
Plans, yes. Though I won't have something for quite a while. I've been pushing back some other requested trusses back for a while now to offer the many variations of the dana 60 trusses so I need to fulfill those promises before developing another version of the d60 front. these narrowed versions actually take a while to develop despite just being modifications of the full width versions mainly because it has to accomodate so many different shortened lengths.
I've mentioned it on your facebook forum, but I'll throw it out here too:

I get questions on that one alot. So the other gusset that has the axle tube radius cutout goes on the opposite end of the pumpkin on the ram mount. It basically forms a little box with the bottom and side of the ram mount on the end. The pointy gusset that looks like the end of the bigger gussets is optional and designed to be trimmed according to your needs. It can be cut and welded to the diff cover and butted up against the removeable skid plate to act as an additional brace. Its not totally necessary but we include it for good measure.
Now that its burned in, lets see some pics.
flatblack51 07-27-2011, 07:48 AM Optional huh well it's gonna hang on the wall then! I have alittle more welding to do then I'll snap a few, also have to mount the ram. Trying to do it all outfrom under the rig makes everything easier!
Artec 07-27-2011, 04:29 PM I was going to get pics of the new truss and ram mount today but ended up sitting under a TJ all day doing some more R&D. I guess I'll have to get the new stuff up tomorrow.

Yes to both. I'll get them up on the website soon, just have to take some pictures.
Artec 08-04-2011, 10:48 AM We've had alot of requests for a full length Dodge d60 truss and ram mount lately. I'm working on some other projects right now but I'll get back to those once I'm finished. Should probably be a couple weeks.
In other news the shortened Ford 80s truss and ram mount is in transit for final fitment and installation. I should have it ready for sale by late next week.

The backside of the truss has plenty of room for link mounts. The vertical gusset face furthest back is .75" from axle centerline. At the most, you might trim the very tip of the upper portion of the radius on the lin mount to make it fit. As far as the Chevy cast perch, it just clears straight over it not trying to conform to the contours of the perch. I'll see if I can find some closeups.
