Ok here's the deal. I just bought a brand new steering box setup for a ram assist. I did this because my old box was worn out and was making a clunk in the box itself. Well I just found out that it wasn't the box after the test drive. This application is on a TJ. WTF could this noise be? It happens when I put a load on the front end like when my front is locked or when I put a load on the front end when I steer sharp. Could it be the steering shaft itself. I once remember an article in petersens regarding the Ultimate A1 setup and they had a plastic bushing in there shaft that was worn out. My jeep isn't that old so could it still be that? This really flames me since I'm going to paragon next week

Its a Re longarm lift. It isn't the heim in the trackbar or cartridge joints. I lost for ideas on this one.

Best way to locate it is to have a buddy cycle your steering and you visually look at it. I had a simialr problem on a 44 ended up being a ball joint!
Same problem on a toy axle-loose tie rod end.
Also had a steering box that was loose that did this.....:skull:

Ranger hit it, have someone cycle it back and forth and watch for movement. My buddy had a similar problem on his TJ and after cycling it, we tightened the steering stabilizer and clunk went bye bye.
Also helped my friends little brother determine it was his front u-bolts that were loose, causing the whole axle to "clunk" under the springs.
Good luck.

Well I'll try to keep narrowing it down then. I don't have a stabilizer and all my heims are brand new. I'll figure something out sooner or later.
