i picked up my rockwell axels this past weekend.could not whate to take them a part and see just how big the guts are.man talk about big. there is not a part in them that less then 20 pounds.i welded the gears today and was going to shave the axles but you only gain 1 1/2" more ground clearance so i'am going to leave it alone.i have been taking pics of the whole thing so i will send them out a.s.a.p. i'am putting them under my buggy.one more thing it came with the drum brakes there a two pice drum and if you take it apart the inner i think will fit inside of a 15" rim so i can run my 15x10 beadlocks. and you can take the hub off pond out the studs and put them in from the front side then turn it 180 grind the studs about 1/4" off on the back. grind the spindel nut studs up to the nut and then you have just moved the wheel base from 80" to 69" flange to flange i will send pics of this soon:cool:
sorry for any bad speeling. :(

those "2 piece brake drums" you are talking about. Well, the 2nd piece will not fit into a 15" wheel. truuuuuust me...

i say go ahead and shave them. you will only wish you had later. i really like the shaved, weld-on bottoms you can get for the rockwells from avelanche eng. i would do it myself before spending the $$$ they want for them. anyway i say just do it.

High5, if you can fab stuff that looks THAT good, then you should go into business. No offense to Gunracer, but his mohawk didn't look nearly as good as the Avalanche one. After seeing a few others, I decided that the price tag was well worth the quality, and the install is a cinch.

yea, but mine didn't cost me a dollar and those showed up month after i posted a pic of mine, up to that point i have never seen one a shaved as close as mine. i bet mine still has better clearance than those. but not by a whole lot.

Damn, those do look sweet. What is the price on them? I can fab up that good but it would take a lot of time to fab it up. Depending on the $$ I might would consider buying over fabbing.

It would be a hard decision, but I think I can find more time than money.:(

i didn't say i could make it look that good. i could find alot more stuff to spend that $$$ on if i did it myself. $190 per axle!! that is crazy if you ask me.

i think $190 a diff might be okay for another type of diff, but the idea behind rockwells is price
$$$
$190, man thats a fifth of the price of the diff!! (and id rather have none of them and a locker) :p
plus you are only gunna land them on rocks and generally hate on them, so why not bootie fab up some of your own and as long as they dont leak, just get it!!
what sort of clearance does gunracer have to the bottom of his rockwell?
anyone got any pics?
i might consider going the rockwell option very soon, damn they are a cheap axle!!
