I don't know how strong they are but ford rangers and exploders are the only trucks with 5 on 4 1/2. I don't now how strong they are though.
Good luck
Nick

If you want to stay with the 5 on 4 1/2 pattern then your stuck with the D30.
I would not let my wheels dictate my axle selection. Sell your wheels and buy some cheap steel wheels and go to whatever axle you choose.
If you go to a D44 then you can choose between 5 on 5 1/2", Chevy 6 lug, or even 8 lug patterns.

I think a reverse cut Dana 30 is about the best you are gonna do, and that doesn't seem worth the effort.

I agree with Jeff, if you're gonna goto the trouble to do an axle swap, then swap the wheels too.

There's plenty of buyers for 5 on 4.5 wheels.

Dodges from 75 to 79 used a dana 44 with the 5 on 4 1/2 pattern. some people complain about the wheel bearings but I have had mine for a little over 6 years with no problems so far. Thats on a mud toy with a big block automatic and 35- 12.5-15s. I think the trick is to keep the bearings lubricated.

Besides, even if ya found a tough axle with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern, you'd still be stuck running those cheesy hubs that are pretty weak.

Replace the axle shafts with the Warn high alloy and 297 shafts. Then the shafts will be the same strength as d44 shafts. Simple.

a strong axel with 5x4.5 is an oxymoron.

I have some 5 on 5 1/2" MRT Beadlocks that will be going on sale in a couple of weeks(8 lugs on the way). They would be perfest for your D44's

H8,

So, uh, what do you want for those beadlocks ?

BB,

And yeah, someone beat me to it, but seriously ...the AR767s are just cheap black wagon wheels. If your looking to drop coin on axles, THOSE wheels in particular shoul;d be the least of your concerns.

Good Luck,

Charly
