: Looking for fridge slides- simple cheap, or homebuilt ones
TheTonka 03-10-2011, 09:20 AM I've been looking around for slides for my CF-110 and CF-40. This will be in my Toyhauler. I'm really looking for slides that slide on the wide side, not the narrow side, and something simple. I don't need cutting boards, or drop downs or anything fancy. This will just be in a simple cabinet inside the hauler, so just the slides and latching mechanism.
I've got a couple of ideas of mine own, but not really enough time to build them. The few places I have found that have them either think they are made of gold($$$$$$$) or not in the state :p.
Thanks. In the absents of a good source, has anyone built one like what I am talking about? Would love to see examples.
Thanks:D
JESSE_at_TLT 03-11-2011, 08:10 PM Why not just buy some heavy-duty drawer slides and build-to-suit? Was able to find drawer slides rates up to 1000lbs that I used for my slide-out couch/bed.

That's been the plan. Just don't have much time.
JESSE_at_TLT 03-12-2011, 05:49 PM So what's the question? Are you looking for sources for drawer-slides or are you looking for something pre-made?
Caswell 03-12-2011, 06:04 PM For local source, try finding cabinet company suppliers. Home Depot or places like it will HOSE you on prices.
Do you want it to hold in the closed position? Open position? Closed and open position?
What weight is your fridge, loaded?

If I can find a nice setup for a reasonable price I'll buy. I found one but it's a bit over my budget and not quite the right size.

The hold open/closed is nice but the ones I have seen from accuride are pricey.
The Adam Blaster 03-14-2011, 10:35 AM I'm sort of curious what the total weight of a loaded medium-sized fridge would be?
An empty Engel Mt-60 weighs 68 pounds. If it was loaded mostly with drinks I would think it could get over 100 pounds pretty easily right? So you have to buy 100 pound slides, or to put in an extra measure of safety, 150 pound slides right?
I remember seeing prices for those being a bit pricey...

I am planning on 150+ lbs for my CF110. My little CF40 should stay well under 100 lbs. I use the CF110 as my fridge and the CF40 as the freezer.
They work great, just need better organization and mounting than them sliding around on the floor.
RockMolester 03-16-2011, 07:05 PM Remember that the 100lb rating on slides is for a pair, with static loading. Factor in the bouncing you get going down a rough road, and you'll probably find a 100lb pair of slides isn't going to last you very long.
McMaster-Carr has some really nice 500lb ones but they cost an arm, a leg, AND a left nut. My buddy bought some for his whole-rear-cargo-area sliding platform and they're really nice, but $140 is a lot of money for a pair of slides. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many in-between ratings. You can either spend big money to get great ones like those from McMaster-Carr, or you can get shitty cheap ones from Home Depot. Even my local cabinet shop's best ones are 175lb rated, and they're pretty crappy.
Anyone have a source for 250lb-300lb rated slides?

150 lbs Accuride, detent hold in to stop the drawer from sliding out while traveling.
I wouldn't be that worried about the "bouncing" issues. Asked our sales guy and he said they usually say 60% of the normal rated rating (150lbs * 60% = 90 lbs)...but they're usually pretty conservative.

200 lbs KV slide if you want more beef.

If you want to go full bling slides. Locking (not just detend) and actually rated for vehicle use (300 lbs).
RockMolester 03-17-2011, 03:14 PM Cool, those Knape Vogt ones are nice. Thanks for the links!
TheTonka 03-17-2011, 03:57 PM I've been looking at the accurides. They look like they will fit my needs, and not too expensive. They do have some really high end ones, but those are way out of my budget.

These ones are pretty nice, I like the locking mechanism, and that they lock both in extension and closed positions. No pricing on heir website for these though, strange because they list prices on their site for everything else...
TheTonka 03-21-2011, 10:10 AM OK, so I have a question on dimensions that I can't seem to work out in my head. When they say it is a 24" slide does that mean it it 24" closed, or has 24" of travel?
I R confused, and I can't seem to find a clear answer.:D
It means it's for a 24" cabinet depth. If they are full extension slides, then they also have 24" of travel.

Thanks. That makes sense.
Caswell 03-21-2011, 06:18 PM Full extension slides will travel their full length (24" in this case) and most have some over-travel (usually 3/4").
Reid Racing 04-08-2011, 03:55 PM Here's another good, cheap source for 250lb slides: TCH (http://www.tchweb.com/tchstore/category/250lb-drawerslides/s0/250-Lbs-Drawer-slides.html)
JESSE_at_TLT 04-08-2011, 04:12 PM Awesome link! Slides are expensive. Would definitely give those a shot.
TheTonka 04-08-2011, 09:40 PM That is a good link.
I got my slides and will be working on the fridge freezer cabinet this weekend.
