Got a question!

Are driveline U-joint sizes different from Axle U-joint sizes?

IE - is a 1410 driveline U-joint smaller than a 1480 D60 U-joint??

Anyone?

They are the same, meaning 1410 and 1480 are both driveline aplications, just our comon uses put them in two different places. so numericly higher is bigger. The 1410 is smaller than the 1480, but the "driveline " version is designed for external c clips and the axle versoion has internal c clips. There is a drivshaft version of the 1480, and i am sure there is an axle version of the 1410.
Thery pretty much start with 1310, and continueto grow. 1310,1330,1350,1410,...1480,...1550... and so on.

OK, i was drunk last night - so forget my 2nd post. I went outside and measured my 1410 driveline joint - 4.25" cap to cap

then i measured a front 60 joint - 3.875" cap to cap

so wtf does this mean?? I thought a D60 joint was 1480??

someone please explain this to me!

oh yeah, and if anyone needs a chevy front 60, this truck hasn't moved in a while, it might be for sale - 1 ton mid eighties, dually 14b rear, dunno about motor or tranny though...

Hmm... How long do you think it would take to have it up on blocks, and the undersides gutted? I could use one.. I'll bet we could part that thing completely out in a matter of about 30 minutes...

I have no problem trying to fit a 1480 into a D60. But that only goes for if we jack the D60. I've got a black sweatshirt, and some face paint. Even some tools! Lets fawkin' do this shit! I'll bet we could grab both axles before they come out with guns drawn... :D

And besides, my crap looks better halfway parted out in my dad's driveway anyway!

I believe that U-joints for axles are in a different category than the ones for driveshafts but there must be some crossover. I never heard of a 297x in a driveshaft and I have always heard that 1480s are the joints in 60s but if they are smaller than the numbers cant mean the same thing. You know that Jesse would know for sure!!
