I know this one has been beat to death.
I have spent several hours reading posts but haven't got a good answer yet.
1. What pitman arm or modification do you use with toy IFS box and Zuk linkage?
RRO is the only one I have seen that sells an arm.
2. Does anyone else sell arms?
3. Or is there a mod I can do with out cutting the toy arm (change inserts, use an arm off of certain model)
I'm daily driving my rig for now. I don't feel comfortable chopping and welding steering components.
My welding skills are moderate and have access to all basic machining equipment.
I wouldn't mind changing inserts if I can get good info.

Well, if your using the Toyota truck IFS 4x4 Box you could use one of our pitman arm adapters, and a custom linkage. Are you using Toyota axles? If so there are various ways to make this system work.

(assuming you haven't installed the Toy IFS box yet)
You could remove the stock Toy pitman arm and send it off & have someone weld an insert that will fit the stock 'zuki drag link end. Sounds kinda scary, but they will bore the end, press the tapered fitting, then weld in place - it isn't as though they were chopping the arm in half & welding back together. :)
Sky should be able to handle this,
as well as Spidertrax or pretty much any reputable mach. shop.

I did this...
Ill try to summerize with a few pics
http://www.yager.net/zukin/new/dscf0522.jpg
First I cut/ground/filed the outter edge of the ball joint part, I was close and the steel was obviously hardened the last 1/16" or so. SO i stacked some crap around the press and pressed it off the arm...

I then took a weld on shock mount / adapter from speedway ($4)
It has a tapered hole and ~1.?" OD So I ground it down on my bench grinder to match the inside of the socket on the arm.
With some mild beating it turns into this

and this
http://www.yager.net/zukin/new/dscf0525.jpg
After welding with my arc -- lincon 220amp stick with some pre heat on the arm (its a forged arm not cast)
http://www.yager.net/zukin/new/dscf0526.jpg
I then cleaned it up some careful not to grind all the weld off...I got roughed up by several about how its not safe etc... So but im not worried about it as I didnt remove any of the outter "loop" that surrounds the insert and Im comforatable with my welding skills...
as always YMMV - if i was short on time or had $ to burn I would just buy one from company X and save the 3-4 hours total i spent on it.... (note: not actual time but anything after beer:30 is not really tracked in any way)

Thanks all:D
Zukipuke - Thanks, I followed your pitman arm through the original post. How is it holding up?
I didn't realize you used a shock adapter. I thought it was a "pitman arm insert":rasta:
I plan on running toy axles in the future.
For now I have to do the steering and then the front suspension.
When I do the toy axles I'll sell my steering set up, and start over.
I'm building as I break it on a budget.
If I do a sidekick power steering swap, will the sidekick pitman arm work? What's involved with that swap?
I'm doing my homework now, and would like to use the toy IFS set up so I don't have to upgrade after the toy axle swap.
I'm capable and have the tools to swap in the insert, but would like to know more about it.
Specs on the insert
type of metal
risk/prevention of falling out
I'll probably buy an arm, I can always resell it after I do a toy axle/steering linkage swap.

I went to the boneyard yesterday.
For $100
I can get
1. complete sidekick setup
2. complete celica setup
3. complete toy IFS set up
set up = box, pump, reservior
I now have to get a grocery list of everything that I need.
Any help getting my list together would be aprreciated.:D

Dono yet on how its holding up, its made it several feet closer to the front end of the zuke, friday night i spent time aligning where the box will sit on the frame rails etc...
The insert is a 1" thick piece of steel of some 1.5" ish OD. thats been reamed for a regulare shock taperd mount (1.5"/ft.) ill need to ream it deeper to fit on the 1ton ends im using but i do think that as it sits now it might take the stockish zuke end...
Not sure where you can even buy a special "pitman" insert. Im finding that most everything im using needs some tweeking/cutting grinding anyway so i just but the cheepest i can and not worry.
IMH (non expert) O its at little risk of falling out, i guess its possible for welds to break.. i plan to put a washer on top of the arm under the nut the covers the top opening, for some xtra backup. in case of such a failure.
The drag link end is bigger than the bottom hole and with the washer wosrt it can do is become very sloppy, or pop the end off.... or the arm break, or the box bust... etc...

Why couldn't you just use a Toyota rod end on one end & a Suzuki rod end on the other end of your drag link?
