: soft e-brake, normal?

Flamming potential, suit is on, eyes are closed.........

I did a quick search, nothing helpful.

My boss just bought a 2000 Z71 and the e-brake feels soft to him. It goes all the way to the floor and without much resistance. He thinks he could do it with his hand.

The brake does hold but goes to the floor. The dealer says this is normal. My boss doesn't like it.

Any Z71 owners out there have an opinion about this being normal?

Pick up the rear end and spin the tires by hand. If they spin freely, the rear brakes need to be adjusted. You should get about 1 revolution if they are adjusted correctly.

Yeah the new 4wheel disc GMs have a weird parking brake. The resistance does not increase as you push the pedal further down. I am wondering if the ebrakes are computer controlled or something.

My bad, I didn't notice the model year.

My sister's Suburban is exactly the same way. I kept telling her to have it adjusted or to let me do it but the dealer told her the same thing.'

my 1996 Yukon does the same thing, but the ebrake is plenty strong.
