: Wouldn't a History of the Land Cruiser be a TOP SELLER?!!?!
Chemical442 11-20-2002, 02:49 PM I kinda knew one didnt exist, but for fun this past weekend while we were Christmas shopping, i asked at every Walden, Barnes and Noble, and what not I drove by if there was a History of the Land Cruiser book... all turned up only Chiltons.
I think I read here once that someone was working with someone on a LC book/ or was tinkering with the idea of one.... Was it you, Nolen? Anyone have any leads? Think there was ever a book published over seas?
How cool would it be to have a coffee table book with ALL the models and their differences documented in a nice full color glossy hard bound...? And then throw in some old original ads, brochures, and file footage. I would buy one even if it ran $100.00.
KrustyKruiser 11-20-2002, 03:49 PM If anyone knows it would be Henry C (60seriesguy) - yes it would be a cool book - the kind of thing that the TLCA should sponsor.
Mustard Dog 11-20-2002, 03:54 PM I have one, it's called "The Land Cruiser-Special Issue of 50th Anniversary" It's a Japanese publication with the pages split between English and Japanese.
Co Pilot got it for me last Christmas from Specter. It's really cool;)
Jason M 11-20-2002, 04:15 PM Yep, look into the $pector catalog and you will find it.
I got one as a wedding present :)
Coolest present I got!!!
cruiseroutfit 11-20-2002, 04:35 PM I think Henry Brimmer of the TLCA was also looking into the possibility of producing a LC book...along with the calanders and Toyota Trails...He does a great job at these so I would assume that a book from him would be of equal quality.
Mustard Dog 11-20-2002, 04:41 PM Henry had started a book of the first 25 years of the TLCA, but from what I understand he has postponed it untill he could dedicate the time the project deserved. ;)
cruiseroutfit 11-20-2002, 05:02 PM That sounds familiar...I remember hearing something like that on the LCML but couldn't quite remember. Thanks for the update!:D

I talked a buddy's girlfriend into getting that book for him for his 21st birthday. It's a great coffee table book that I would enjoy owning, especially as a wannabe cruiser owner.
She also ordered this one and for $25 it makes for great reading on the throne.

Thats the one I got last Christmas, chock FULL of all kinds of L.C.'s and history...but there will be a big ass book in the future, its been in the works for awhile.
woody 11-21-2002, 06:27 AM Get Lost Productions was working on the project, and many individuals had pre-paid for copies...for a large variety of reasons, some good and some not, those monies have either been returned or (by choice) used for 2003 calendar orders and the future production of the book is in limbo until the publisher has the opportunity to dedicate himself to the project wholly.
IMO, once it's out, it will be a great piece of reading.

Kaderabek 11-21-2002, 06:29 AM Got the SOR book for Father's Day last year -- it rocks. Crack it open, you won't look up for hours.

Stupid frnch jackasS 11-21-2002, 06:29 AM I think the german "Das GroBe Toyota LandCruiser Buch" falls into this category, too. All I know about this though is 1) it's big 2) it's written in german...
Bye,

Rose had also prepaid for the TLCA book last Christmas as well. I'm not gonna worry about having the cash sent back, I'll just let it ride till the book comes out :D

You have no choice from my understanding...either use the funds for a 2003 calendar or get your money back. There was no option C.

I bought it from www.german-book.com a few years back. Cost about $30. Awesome book if you read (or partially read) german. Still a good book if you know no german. There are alot of good pictures, and specs in it. This is the second addition with info about the 90 series included. I also have the first edition, which focused more on the older models. :D HTH

Just got my 2003 calendar in the mail today. I have to say that this one might be my favorite of all 5 of the previous ones. Some really great pictures in this years edition. More info at: http://getlostproductions.com/
:)
ginericfj80 11-21-2002, 04:59 PM There are two Gold Portfolios and early and a late model one (-80 sieres). I think I bought mine from www.motorbooks.com The Japanese/English book pictured above available from www.sor.com. There is also Toyota Land Cruiser/Truck Owners Bible (available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, etc...) which I believe might have some connection to the German Das Grosse TLC Buch. The 25th TLCA anniversary book was cancelled until a further date and there will be no preorders for the next book. It will not be available until product is in hand or so I'm told from Henry Brimmer. Henry C. (60 series guy) was at one time working on a LC book. I think it was going to be more of an owner's guide/buyer's guide kind of book explaining different options available in different areas and different LC models. I was really excited about that book. And then not really LC related but more adventure related and still a good read and stars a LC Who needs a Road?

Actually I gave him a check that was never cashed... ;)
I'm assuming it never will be 'til the time comes when they do become available.
