: PWF Expanding
Due to the high flow of work I have been doing at PWF, I am expanding the business. I have just finished the paper work on a new 30' wide x 50' long x 14'6" metal building to use as the new shop!!! It has 3 big 16' wide by 10' tall doors on 3 sides of the building and I'll be building a 30' x 12' mezzanine for storage on the end of the building without a door. Under part of the mezzanine will be my 12' x 12' office/customer waiting area. Should have the blueprints in about 3 weeks and the building delivered in about 2 months,,so I'll be getting the footings & slab done in the meantime. I'll be able to have dedicated work area, for machine work, parts cleaning and blasting, welding & grinding, installation, long term projects, etc. And the new building is only 12' away from the old shop, so I'll use it as the "clean room" for engine/trans/Tcase & axle assembly. As soon as the get the building finished up, I'll be ordering the CNC plasma table to add to the tools. I'm excited to get this built.
WOW, awesome man....so when are you going to start putting out PYRO chassis..?? need more employees..??.haha

Ya, I think so too:D.
I can do a chassis anytime you want :D
If I where to have employees, you, my friend, would be on the top of the list, but I ended up firing my last employee. I now do everything myself so I can be sure everything is done right.
I am also looking into getting my FFL to start offering gunsmithing as part of the PWF line. Already doing some work, like polishing and porfiling triggers, carriers & bolts, and barrel porting for Saiga shotguns. But want my FFL to be more free to do other modifications and bring in gun parts, guns and ammo to sell.
Getting a lot done on the new building, it took a while to get through the building permit process but I finally got the approval. Needed to do a lot of ground work, removed 7 coconut trees and traded them to my neighbor for the use of one of his backhoes. Then removed the old concrete from the are where the building will be located and had over 100 tons of base course hauled in for the pad. After forming and placing rebar, we poured 33.5 yards of concrete last monday for the slab. If everything goes as planed, the metal for the building will be unloaded at the job site this Tuesday.
You can see the footings in the middle for the 2 post lift. Slab is 6" thick with #3 rebar at 18" both ways, and #4 bar in the footings.

I made 6 chain pots and set them throughout the slab for pull points.

The day after the pour, I saw cut the slab with the PWF logo at the front door.
After the slab cures, I will acid stain it all,,,,not sure about the colors yet.

so ive been thinking...lets make some plans and set up a wheeling trip/event Maui/Oahu/Big Island...Kaua'i ?? i dont know when my new buggy will be ready but if we can plan it far enough away then everyone should be able to get it together...any ideas?? suggestions.??
Aloha..
If you and anybody else want to come over to Kona, I can help setup some killer rock crawling trips out on the lava flows, and some other trails rides also. I can also look around for some good deals on lodging and offer the shop for any emergence repairs. Be nice to make a week out of it, hitting a bunch of different trials.
Borrowed the backhoe again to lift some of the big rafters into place, Now that a few rafters are up, I got a better idea on big this building is,,,,I like it :D. Got plans on building a jib crane from a 12' I-beam with a double hinge, mounted in the middle of the building, next to the 2 post lift. With it double hinged, it will have about 340 degree radius, even though it is mounted to one side of a vertical I-beam. Getting a forklift delivered to the job in a few days,,,make it easier and faster to get this up.

4x4 HI 07-08-2011, 12:09 PM It's coming along, good work. Looks like your going to have an awesome set-up.
Thanks. It will be nice to have more space for more projects.
Today was 8 weeks to the day since I got the building permit. Got the siding and roof on, finishing the trim and doors in the next few days, then call the county for structural inspection.

Got the doors hung and trim on,,,need to do a little more trim tomorrow and a short punch list, and call for inspection monday morning. Hope to start moving the equipment & tools in monday afternoon. Will start the office addition on the front of the building where the white entry door is soon,,,there was enough roofing left over for a 14' x 16' office.

hows things going man....hows the buggy coming along...???
Everything is going great, how about you? When I'm not working on everyone else's projects, I've been putting together a rear steer axle for my buggy. It's a 14bolt with CTM/Cone 300m shafts & joints, with Crane inner & outer knuckles. It has a Detriot with 5.13 gears and the steering will be run off a Subaru electric steering pump with a single ram.

awesome...!! are you going to run a 14B in the front too or a D60..?
I'll just use the front D60 from the old rig. It is still in good shape, with alloy shafts, D70 1.5" 35 spline stub shafts, Detroit, behind the axle hydro steering, shaved housing, and I'll be adding Crane knuckles to match the rear.
