: Pics of rear upper shock mounts
Priest 11-20-2002, 07:20 PM The guy I bought my truck from had the rear socks done up in the standard / \ fashion. I had some noise on the rear so I pulled the shocks off only to find that the mount was bent, the wrong hardware was used so the shocks were flopping around and in doing so the bolts/studs were about to rip through the mount.
Anyway, I'm redoing the shock mounts and I was just curious how everyone else did theirs.
BTW: They are 9012's, not that it makes any difference.
Heres a couple of pics of mine...The shocks in the pics are just for mounting locations....I made the top brace and have 1/2" bolts coming in the backside and welded....no problems to date....It is 1.5" square and welded to the inside of frame...

Hope they work for ya......

ROKTOY 11-21-2002, 05:51 AM Closer shot.....
Booger Weldz 11-21-2002, 09:07 AM copied jay kopy's page long ago, been running this since my first wheelin trip...
You don't want your shocks like ---> /\
Shocks are a large part of controlling body roll and by putting them like that they do nothing to controll body roll. I would highly recommend putting them as far out on the framw and axels as you can. You will like the improved stability of your truck.
ROKTOY 11-21-2002, 06:14 PM Why do you say they do nothing for body roll?
I don't know, but where exactly do you think the rear axle roll axis is?

I still have a bit of money to spend before I get to go wheel. We won't be able to run Deer Valley until spring... pass is closed at Lake Alpine as soon as the snow hits :(
