Here is what I came up with, under $20

Moroso Filler Cap 17.99
½ to ¼ Gal pipe bushing $0.59

15 minutes worth of welding

Finished Product

The welding is a beetch (for me at et least) also be careful of too much heat the reservoir is brazed so too much heat might cause things to come apart.

Why the hosebarb fitting?

Still hasta vent?

Yup needs to vent, I don't think the seals on the pump would last too long without. The vent line will run through a PCV valve (cheap roll over check) then to a catch can per CalRocs rules.

looks like a spout to me.:flipoff2: Is it really sealed if it has to vent? Sounds like an oxymoron to me. Looks good though.

I like that, might just "borrow" your idea. I think I'll run that vent out the middle of the cap though.....

A vent...
Makes sence.

a PCV Valve

ok so it warms up and vents out some air threw the PCV valve you shut it down for the night and it cools and the air inside cools and contracts but it can not suck in due to the PCV valve. wont this cause a vacume inside and do some harm

I've checked the valves out, the up position is open, there should not be enough pressure to shut the valve, only in the turtle position with fluid flow will the valve close.

At the end of the vent line will be a catch can per the rules.

But what's the catch can like? Is it sealed? If so, then there's no vent, right? And if it's not sealed, then it can leak if you roll, right?

The catch can has a hose barb fitting with a hose and PCV valve and another catch can for the catch can? And so on?

I dont get the point...if it needs a catch can then its not sealed?

I think its just an attempt at stopping leaks. It might work a bit, but well... as has been said before that can needs to vent too...

My 85 van pump housing has a large barb on the top that is supposed to attach to remote resevoir. Real easy to make a cap and vent without welding to the pump housing.:flipoff2:

haha your sig goes right along with that well don't it..

why not weld on a threaded section for a cap (that would seal) and put barb fitting into cap...only so you could unscrew it and fill it fast...

looks good though...if you run a big enough catch can that all the possible fluid could only fill it half full..then put vent about halfway down when it was upside down the vent tube would still protrude into air ...only could leak a few drops at best

Sure is custom. Good to see you let the local blind kid weld it up for you :flipoff2:
