: D90 Station Wagon door trim removal???

Hey guys,

I'm mounting mirrors on the doors hopefully sometime this week, and can't figure out how to remove the window tracks and trim stuff. I'm doing mini-semi-truck mirrors ala Camel Trophy mounted to the window frame. I need to remove the trim bits to get in there and mount some brackets and bolt them thru the window frame.

Any suggestions? I'm looking through my service manual and of course there's nothing.

Thanks!

are you talking about the hidden screws in the felt trim?

I'm talking about the window channel that the glass slides up and down into.

I think I have it figured out.

I think the hidden screws you're talking about are the ones on series trucks, unless the modern doors have them too???

Thx.

there are little screws that hold it in. I had a hard time finding them myself.

Hey Shane,

Hey I found those screws and discovered that to remove all the trim to get in behind the door frame panel I'd have to completely dissasemble the door. I'm not in the mood to fu*^ with it, so instead of using bolts through the mirror brackets I'm either going to riv-nut it or use some huge honkin' rivits.

I have heard mixed reviews about riv-nuts, and personally do like to use rivits, but in the event I need to actually remove the big honking mirrors I was thinking rivnuts would be good.

The only part I *actually* need to mount to the door are two brackets, one above and one below the window.

Thanks.
