Hey Guys

I saw some sweet knuckles in the Dec2002 issue of 4WheelDrive and SU (they are on page 16) for the YJ,XJ,andTJ style Dana 30 that allows the use of the D44 hi steer arms for SOA setups.

However the website URL and the phone # dont work. I have been waiting for a set of these knuckles to come out for awhile and now i am very curious in a set for my next project.

Any got anymore info?

Thanks

Yup, i made it to So Ca ok and all is well. We are living in the Univeristy Heights area of SD. The rig search is on and i am being very picky about this one!

Please feel free to post to that new forum as well and spread the word!

I will keep ya updated if i find out any info on those knuckles.

thanks

I have been calling around also, and from what I was told these are not in production. but I found out that a couple companies are looking to start making them in about a month.

Yep, just what we need in SoCal a 96th board or list to get all the local wheelers together on. Why don't you just hang out on JA since they're mostly in San Diego?

Dont know if you need the whole knuckle or not .. but .. Page 63 of JP mag Jan issue ...quote " Tera flex has brand new passenger side knuckles for dana 30 axles that have the steering arm cast into the knuckle way higher than stock. The new high clearance knuckle will restore the drag link on lifted trucks to stock angles.... blah ...blah .. blah ".
Welcome to Cali...

BM, I saw the pic also and just for curiosity's sake, why would you be interested in a knuckle that makes no provision for any brake upgrades?

With the cast sliders on the knuckle, you are pretty much limited to the same old crappy calipers that barely work with stock sized tires.

Maybe Im oblivious, but I havent had a single problem with my D30 brakes, and they work great, especially with my rear discs on the 8.8. Just gotta remember, not everyone runs the same trails as you, and not everyone has the same braking expectations either.

That all would be fine Scott, but I would guess that if you are going to the expense and effort of some sort of higher steering, you are increasing other areas to get better performance out of your rig.

In other words, most street rigs have no need for higher steering. That's usually done to move things up out of harm's way from rocks. I also realize that it's also done for SOA, but who runs that just for the street?

No, not everyone runs the same trails I do, but I don't see why that should limit anyone's options for a braking upgrade if you are going to the expense of patterning and casting a new knuckle.

Even some of the less modified rigs wind up with so much crap bolted, stacked and stuffed into them that they quickly move past the stock braking system's abilities in panic stops.

Finally, if you think that you and I are the two examples by which all braking mods should be built for, then yes, you are oblivious.

All Good points Blaine. I wanted to get an explanation of why you thought upgraded braking systems were totally necessary, and I understand where you are coming from. My next question is, if someone was to go soa, and needed to address steering, how would you go about doing that, on a D30 axle, and upgrading the braking system at the same time?
Scott
EDIT: Sorry, Im under my GF's name :)

Good Point Blaine

And to be honest with you, i never even thought of brakes.

Good point though and now, my interest in these knuckles has faded somewhat.

Looks like a 44 is the best bet (can use BIG ford brakes)

That's your answer Scott. If your rig stops, you don't need to upgrade the brakes. If it doesn't, you need to. Pretty simple. Mine didn't, yours does.

I called the other day!

Seems the damn things arent even in production and the ad in the mag was just to gain interest.

This type of SHHEEEEIT pisses me off!

They said no estimated time frame on their release!
