my 2.8L is tired and a 3.4L seems like a nice simple swap. I've seen some S10 guys do it before but wondering if anyone in the Isuzu world has some input.

to me, the concept is straightforward and simple. is there anything i should look out for when purchasing my 3.4L?

i belive the hardest part is drilling the drivers side of the block for the starter.theres a guy that sells a kit with bits and a guide but i cant remember his name right now, ill let you know if i remember

ah yeah i never even considered that. i'll look around and see what i can find. it wouldnt be a problem to do that with it on an engine stand before installing i don't think.

If i were considering a 4.3L and being doomed to a 90 degree bellhousing, i would just do a 350/sm465 at that point and give up all the on-road driveability my truck currently has.

no thanks, i want to stick to a 60 degree bellhousing so I can have a 5spd. I do a lot of street driving with my truck and as a club we take wheeling trips which involve lots of highway driving.

I also want to keep my truck light and avoid having to go 1-ton. i like it the size it is and it doesnt break anything. It's also a lot easier to just bolt in a new motor then reconfigure my entire drivetrain.

I swapped in a 3.4 in '02. Simple drill & tap for the starter. Upgraded the rockers to Comp Cams Magnum Roller Rocker Arms 1.6 Ratio, using a 4.3 tbi.

Ed Mc has more info on 3.4 swaps than anyone I know of. PM him and he has an info pack.

I finished a toyota 22re/tranny& t case in a 89 trooper for my girl friend to drive. It fits perfect, it almost bolted in. And I don't find it under powered
