I found the specs for the large and small bearing types for this axle (on this site), but I still have a few questions.
I found a stripped axle (just housing and axle tubes) for $50. it's suppose to be out of a late '70s bronco. does that automatically make it large bearing? if not, how do I know which is which without tearing it apart and measuring?
if it is the small bearing, does it make a difference in strength when wheelin? it's going into a '00 ZR2 (S10) and will most likely be running 36-37" tires then with the stock 4.3.
thanks

If the housing tapers down right before the bearing location it's a small bearing housing.

Worst case you could always convert it. Moser, Mark Williams, Curry, etc. all sell big bearing ends that can be welded on.

That shows you what the ends look like.. But yes if it is a 78-79 bronco axle it will be the stronger style tapered housing, large bearing
