14 BOLT REAR AXLE TRUSS
FULL WIDTH & LOW PROFILE

Artec Industries is excite to announce the NEW 14 Bolt Rear Axle Truss. This heavy duty truss system is designed to take serious abuse and reinforce your entire axle while also providing a flat surface to mount your upper links. The 3/8" thick truss top and 1/4" thick gussets incorporates a unique design to strengthen both the axle and the link mounting surface.

The DRW truss is just under 46 1/8" and the SRW truss is just under 51 1/4" total length.

Features include:

•3/8" thick mild steel truss top and 1/4" mild steel ram mount and gussets. Precision CNC cut and bent for great fitment.*

•Truss is low profile allowing link joints to be mounted with ideal geometry - about 8 inches from the axle centerline.

•Truss spans entire length of axle for complete reinforcement of the axle tubes - not just for mounting links.

•Truss is reinforced using interlocked 1/4 thick gussets for maximum strength and easy assembly.

•Overall low profile design means your axle is stronger, sleaker, easier to fit into any vehicle, and less likely to interfere with vehicle components.

NOTE: This kit requires general welding and fabrication skills. Welding should only be done by a competent welder. Artec Industries implies no guarantees or warranties and is not liable for improper installation.
*Some grinding and fitment may be required when installing this kit. Every axle varies slightly and some fabrication may be required.

Hey did you know the top mounting surface on this truss is 20 inches long....why do we do that?

Not every 4 link on every build can mount the upper links directly in the center of the axle. Some have to go a bit wider.

What about if you are doing a 3 link in the rear...generally your upper link is not right in the middle.

We provide that wide of a top truss surface because we know each build is unique and we thought of that before we started making these trusses. This way you can mount other things like limit straps or use the top as a bumpstop pad too in addition to your link mounts. All our trusses are wide like that.

Our trusses give you options...not force you to do it one way and try to make it work.

Working on it. The 14bolt I have at the shop right now is a DRW so it has shorter tubes than the SRW axle this was designed on. Since the truss goes the full length of the SRW, its too long for the DRW axle. We've sent out tons of these by now so surely someone here has it installed on their axle and taken photos by now. If anything, I'll make the DRW version which will be the same, just a little narrower.

Hopefully but its a little tough since even though they might make it standard width, some place the pumpkin in slightly differing locations. Once I get a chance to do a little more R&D on it, I'll have a better answer.

How long till the DRW 14 bolt truss is out?

Probably a few weeks, I'm up to my ears in truss requests so I'm trying to work one axle at a time and put them in order of demand. I had so many requests for the reg 14 bolt when we first made the other trusses, I was able to do that one quick. Likely when I get back to working on 14 bolt trusses, I'll make a leaf spring version too. Maybe I'll bump it up on my to do list since I have one here.

Still working on it. As I said earlier, I no longer have a SRW axle in-house but as of this morning, my shop guys are cleaning up the DRW so we can cut the new DRW truss and install. The trusses are nearly identical, the DRW just has two bends at the end to make it shorter. Once its all done, I'll definitely post up pictures.

Its not like I haven't done anything in two months, 6 new trusses since then. But you're right, and I'll work hard to get you installed pics.

That said, I'm really surprised that no one has posted up pics of their truss installed especially with how many we've sold.

I posted this on Facebook but figured I'd offer it here as well.

Lets make this more interesting. FREE STICKERS FOR POSTING INSTALLED TRUSS PHOTOS!!!! Two free stickers per truss. If you post alot of pictures, I'll throw in some extra stickers. I really need REAR TRUSS photos so I'll include a couple extra stickers for those too. I know how much you all like stickers :)

You don't need to post a million photos here just one or two of each will do, but please send as many as you'd like to sales@artecindustries.com. This offer will end June 15th. And this applies to any truss too.

Some assembled shots of the new DRW version which is now available. The DRW version is exactly the same as the SRW version except we bent the ends in to accomodate the shorter tubes. The last photo shows the "clockability" of the truss allowing you to choose what angle you mount it at according to your pinion angle. The yellow line represents as if you were looking down the plane of the diff cover mounting surface. Enjoy.

The DRW truss is just under 46 1/8" and the SRW truss is just under 51 1/4". I don't have a diff cover yet but I have another product which I cut out last night that I hope to get on the website today that'll tie into the truss. You can probably guess what it is....

I'm still on the fence about producing diff covers at this point. There are plenty of options out there but most of them are almost identical. We like to fill the gaps with products that aren't really offered or figure out something about an existing product that can really improve it. At the very least we like to make it perform equal to other offerings out there, and have some aesthetic appeal to it.

That said, what do you (or anybody) think could be improved with existing vendors diff covers? I know the shave kit is one suggestion.

Does the truss not weld to the housing? Just the axle tubes?

No it does not weld to the housing, just the tubes. I am going to be releasing another product that'll tie into the truss likely today or early next week.

We appreciate the compliment.

So, what if a guy has some custom (ruffstuff) housings but really likes this set up???

See the quote below from another thread. We could probably make something for you, we'd just need your help. Really just a contour of the housing and tube lengths should be enough to get started.

For anyone interested in helping with development of new trusses and ram mounts, here is a link to a dimensions graphic I made that pretty much gives me some of the dimensions I need (at least for the dana 60). You can adapt is for use with other axles as well, but I'll need additional dimensions for the contours of the cutout. I already have Dana 60s, Dana 44s, and 14bolts here so no need to send casting contour info for those. http://artecindustries.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/truss/Dana60/axle-specs.jpg

PLEASE PM OR EMAIL ME THE DIMENSIONS. ALSO PLEASE PROVIDE DIMENSIONS ACCURATE TO AT LEAST THE 1/8 INCH OR SMALLER. IT REALLY HELPS WHEN MODELING TO HAVE SOMETHING ACCURATE.

Shipments begin 6/20

Artec Industries 14 bolt Pinion Guard is designed to keep your vulnerable pinion out of the rocks and in one piece. CNC cut from 3/8" thick mild steel, this guard is meant to take the worst you and the rocks can dish out.

Available with optional bridge to connect to your Artec 14 bolt truss. Bridge is CNC cut and formed from 1/4" thick mild steel and adds rigidity to your existing truss. With minor modifications, the bridge allows the Artec 14 bolt truss to still be "clockable" while installing. Bridge bolts on to pinion guard and welds to truss.

Includes 3/8" grade 8 hardware. Requires welding from a competant welder.

I would take your time. Weld one section, move to the opposite side of the axle and weld another, kindof like you would tighten lugnuts on a wheel. Burning it in all hot and heavy will likely cause some warping. Also it really doesn't HAVE to have every seam welded fully, you could probably just weld some parts. Your call though.

Would this work for the rear of an XJ if you removed the adjustable top plate and welded the perimiter to the inside and bottom oF the unibody? (I would plate that area of the unibody)

Thanks,
Mike

I wouldn't see a problem with this as long as you plate the unibody as much as you can so load transfer isn't in just one small section but rather spread out along the unibody.

Nate,

Can you set that 14 bolt truss with a 3 link system and shocks kind of like the TJ set up but without the coil springs?

I am getting ready to start my 14 bolt set up and only going to 3 link my vehicle. I think it would be a cool set up. If you do this can I get a deal for my idea?

Message me a price please

Artec

These are designed for the standard corporate 14 bolt axle 10.5. The 11.5 AAM axle that has 14 bolts is larger and I confirmed it will not fit. I will be making a truss for that after King of the Hammers.

I threw the new panhard mount for the Ford 85-91.5 Dana 60 on the 14 bolt and was pleasantly surprised how well it fit. Its not perfect but a couple hits with the grinding wheel and you'll be in good shape. Modeling this up with a TJ frame, it put the mount just on the inside of the drivers side frame rail. I'm not sure exactly where you want it but its a good starting point for sure. The Dodge one also worked pretty pretty except it was meant to mount at a slightly higher angle diagonal truss top so its a little off. It mounts solely to the truss, whereas the Ford85 mounts to the truss and axle as shown.

I do dig this truss and plan to own one but, that track bar mount is hideous. I don't need any help cutting myself up when working on my rig on the trail. Got anything smooth in the works? I'm going to order truss to mount up to my JK and i don't think the Poly panhard mount will work with this monstrosity.

I guess everyone has different tastes on looks. The part looks far sharper in this drawing than it is in real life. You wouldn't be cutting yourself but if you don't like it than you don't like it. We won't be releasing any other smooth versions but a couple minutes with a grinder and it could be smooth and exactly how you'd like it to look.
