: Atlas, 1350 or 1410

I DIDN'T search. So feel free to crucify me if this has been covered.

My order is going in soon, so I need to know before they build it if I oughta go with the 1350 or 1410 yoke from Avalanche. I guess the 1410 is basically the same size as a 60 ujoint so that's a big rock-grinding yoke. Some of the comp guys swear by the 1410's, others run aftermarket (MW) 1350 axle yokes, or Spicer ones.

This with a big motor, in comp. I'd like to not blow 1350 drivelines, but not run 1410's and blow 60 R&P's either.
So?

I like the cheap fuse idea.
Mine has 42s and 400 whatever hp with a combo of 1350s in back and 1310s in front. No breaks.

All joints will break if there is too much angle of misalighnment or they bind up.

I agree with the weakest link theory. Something WILL give!!!! It is inevitable and u-joints are reasonably cheap(or cheaper) and reasonably easy to swap. Better a u-joint to give than most anything else.

I have to agree with Chad. I run a 1310 on the front side and a 1350 in the back. I'm running 42" tires and a 5.0 HO NV4500 and an Atlas 4.3 and have yet to break a joint (now it will happen the next time I'm in the woods). Just make sure your angles are correct. Also ask Jess. He's the expert. That's where my rear High Angle came from and I've had no problems. Good luck!:D :D

Don't forget to take into account your operating angles and suspension flex before you settle on a u-joint size. You may select a u-joint size only to find out later that you have pushed it beyond the operating angle and have it bind.

i run 1410 on the axle end for the simple reason the yokes and straps are big and beefy so they can take a solid hit on rocks and not blow the strap off.

jesse at high angle modifys the spicer yoke to work with u bolts.

I went with 1410 on the pinion because it allows for more movement than 1350's. I got mine from Jess and they're setup with u bolt straps.

Go 1410!! We broke a 1350 cv last weekend in reno. I have abused my 1310's seemingly harder and they haven't failed yet! Maybe a fluke or something.

Go 1410's with U bolts. The 1410 has a much higher opperating angle than a 1350. The straps suck so make sure and get U bolts.:)

Go with 1410 for all the previously mentioned reasons. But you can't order an Atlas with 1410 yokes (they wouldn't do it for me). The options they gave were 1310, 1350, or a flat flange. I ordered mine with 1350's and I am going to put 1410 yokes on it.

i run 1350's now but i may be swapping to 1410's in the new rig. i like the 1410's because of the increased operating angle.
