I agree with Rusted. You can throw discs on the rear 14-bolt for a LOT less than $400 also! I used bolt-on brackets and bought all new parts (rotors, calipers - GM 3/4-ton fronts, and pads) for less than $200.

if your still running a carb  then get EFI on there as soon as possible, I did it this summer and I wish I had done it a long time ago

go with the TBI you'll use that 365 days a year (if ya drive everyday)
vs. what, use the winch maybe 20 times in a year max.

Winches are definitely cool, but you could probably get by with some good straps, chain, and a come-along most of the time anyway.

i say winch. when your upside down whats your injection doin for ya then? it only has to happen once to make the winch worth it.

and to all the other guys who say get injection and just use your buddies winch, loosers! go get your own. :flipoff2:

well i un hooked me ramsey weight box didnt think i would need it anymore two weeks later my co pilot[gunracer] pointed me at some mud or maybey quick sand still not sure .well we had jumper cables for the hot wire and a screwdriver fore a controll we got out .and now my weight box is hooked back up as a winch again .so i would lean towards a winch you never no when you might need it.:D

Go with the EFI. Get your junk running soundly and maybe you won't need the winch so often. But i think that $400 is only going to get you start on the EFI.

Good luck and wheel regardless.

A vote for the winch.

Look at it his way - carb or efi - both work, one much betterm but both work and you already have one.

winch - you either have or not, there's no substitute. If a come-along will do - you're not really stuck or you're on the wrong website :flipoff2:

Go Bill! :)

I'm voting winch too. I've got a gerbilmotor with a crapped out carb, but I can still 'wheel it. If I didn't have a winch, my junk would be pillaged of everything long long ago--the winch has gotten me out more times than I can count, and I've been 'wheeling the truck I've got now, for less than a year.

A guy who pulled me out of a frozen-over mudhole one time many years ago, said to me, after I told him I was working on an EFI engine swap, "Horsepower will get you farther from home before you get stuck, but it won't get you out once you do get stuck. A winch will get you out every time." Obviously, he would've voted for the winch too.

BTW, that same guy... is horsepowermonger Rod Pepper. :p

Wich as stated above the tbi will get you stuck, but the winch will get you out.

I would buy the imitation ramsey from
harbor freight mount it on the front.

then the efi

then move first winch to the rear
and buy a new one for the front.

Of course if you dont have the ctm joints
yet I would start ther first.

I'd skip the CTM's unless you're breaking your 60's ujoints ;) Ya got all the stuff to put the outers together etc? If not, I'd go TBI unless you score a good deal on a winch

Land Crusher how many 60 u joints have you broken? thats not a 44 :flipoff2:

Mike i have all the outers just have to drill out my DRW hubs for SRW studs i already machined the dually flange...just have to get ahold of jess at high angle and finish up the out board spring brackets....O and i need a drag link.:D

IMHO your an irresponsible wheeler if you upgrade your motor before you buy a winch. I spend way too much time wiching and tugging on Non-winch owners. People without winches slow trail rides down. Carbs work fine for 90% of wheeling, but winches work great for 100% of wheeling. The choice is clear.

Chrisjeep7

BG that was my exact thinking...then i herd the TBI voice in my head and i could not decide...like stated above i dont like to be the cause of a blockage and also i like helping people on the trail that might be stuck...

the main reason i want TBI is that is have a holly carb and it stalls on everything  do the offroad needles and seats work better? can you get them from summitt?
