Most everyone who does a solid axle conversion on a Toyota runs wheel spacers in either the .75" or 1.5" flavor.

Theoretically, running a "standard offset" aftermarket wheel in the 3-4" backspacing area and a 1.5" spacers is about the same as running a 2" backspaced wheel - at least as far as load on the wheel bearings is concerned. This only applies, however, as long as you keep the lug nuts tight.

Search the Toy froum for Wheel Spacer. There's a place around that sells them for $45 each for the adapter style (one set of lugnuts bolts it to axle, a seperate set bolts adapter to wheel).

They will make steering slightly more difficult (increased scrub radius. search on google if you're not sure what that is)... and they will shorten wheel bearing life. However, I don't exepect my wheel bearings to last more than a year up front anyway with big tires and actual trail use... so it's not a concern for me.

Been running 1 1/4 " spacers for over a year now. No problems, but sure solved a lot.
