I have a w56-b tranny/tcase assy. out of a 87' 22re. I run manual hubs to save my square front drv shaft.
If i'm hauling #$% in 2wd,... will it run my tcase dry with out the gears to bring up oil.?? (front drive shaft not spining)
I'm gonna send my junk to Marlin for a rebulid and don't want to trash my new tcase.
Thanks,
Ryan

I dunno. A lot of us do it...doesn't mean we're right--maybe just lucky.
You're having the man build your gearboxes--ask him!!

You mean like every factory truck with hubs and a part time transfer case? No problem there unless you are talking about not having the gears actually in the tcase?

Yeah, gears are in.
I just noticed the fill hole(oil level) is lower than the shaft in the tcase where the rear drv shaft bolts up. There must be a internal pump that lubes the upper gears???...or mabey the gears are large enough that they reach the oil level and fling it around???
Yeah, I will ask em.

Well its no different than any 79-85 solid axle toyota. I'd guess 95% of them drive most of there life with the hubs disengaged and the tcase in 2wd.
