Hi Folks,

Sorry to interrupt your awesome build projects and all, but my bone stock '96 Trooper's power steering pump is starting to whine a little.

Sometimes these things have an in-line screen that's easy to get to and you can clear it out without too much mess...If you know where it's at, that is.

So, if my trooper has one, where's it at?

I thought I should clean the screen and maybe purge the system with some new fluid. Autoparts store guy says Dexron III. Is that correct?

Thanks!

No screen that I am aware of. My '96 went 300k with a quiet pump and is still going strong. My '95 lost a pressure hose a few years ago, and my wife drove with no fluid in the system for a couple of days until I could get a replacement. The pump on the '95 is making quite a bit of noise now, and I attribute it to being run without fluid. Every isuzu I have owned has had the stock high pressure hose fail at some point, and yours may have befallen the same fate that my '95 did.

Also, I have never seen pink fluid in any of my isuzu power steering reservoirs.
