Yes I have searched and am aware that folks like Ned Bacon and others have used just coils but I have a set of Warn XCL coils from there kit. I do not however have the coilover shocks. I am wanting to coil the rear of my YJ witch is a 4cly. The coils that I have are rears. So my ? is this. Has anyone used Warn coils with out the coil over shock? Pics? Pros? Cons? Mounting will not be a issue but am wondering wether I should retain the coils top and bottom, or just on the lower side like a TJ has.
So lets here it.
Thanks Nick

I thought this was the all knowing all power board.

call Warn, and find the spring rate, then try to set them apart the proper distance to balance with the front spring rate. And attach them at BOTH ends, not just the bottom.
That is your "all-knowing" answer:D

Warn does not have the answer but Wood Ready does. The spring rate is right but I would like to know if any one has used these coils. The are very tall and very tight for a coil if ya know what I mean. How's the welded spiders working in AZ?

a coil is a coil is a coil is a coil, right?? As long as the length and rate are good, what are you worried about? Just capture it at both ends, and you'll be fine. And yes, the welded front is way better...

I thought "engineers" knew it all, especially the "Xtreme" ones. :flipoff2:

Not a bad reply from a guy that changes tires for a living:flipoff2:
So John what would you do?

I believe the coilover shock keeps the spring from buckling. There is a plastic "spacer" that fits in between the coil and the shock body (at the bottom of the can) to prevent this. I think the coils are too long and too small in diameter to be used w/o the shock.

I would make it work. :flipoff2:
