i have a 94 dodge cummins and some times in the morning when i take off the truck will have no power. that didnt suprise me but when i keep driveing on flat ground for about 20 min and the truck still was haveing a hard time i couldnt go any faster then 75. After i got to school i fired up the truck and it ran just fine. It has done this to me about 2 or 3 times now. I was just wondering what it might be wrong, and if any one else has had this problem? Thanks

Sounds like a fuel filter problem to me...maybe replace your water/fuel separator also...

my volvo did something similar.. ended up being the fuel pump.. i paid a shop to replace it.. they said they did, it started acting up.. a year later bought the 4 runner, i tore it apart, and found the 1988 build date on the fuel pump.. replaced it and the car has run great since.- most def. sounds like a fuel (lack of) problem

Check your fuel lines. They are notorious for leaking. Look under drivers side.

Have you changed the spark plugs lately :flipoff2: Kidding. I bet you have a fuel pump problem. I am assuming you have high miles. They only seem to last about 200,000 or so. If not change your filters.

there is a check valve in the lift pump that will go south and cause the same problems, but usally not as long lasting as yours. i would just replace the lift pump. and go from there

Thanks yeah the truck does have just about 200,000 on it but it does have a new fuel felter so unforgantly that isnt the problem. How much would a lift pump or a fuel pump cost??
PS i still cant find the spark plugs j/k

lift pump, sticking afc control (on top of the pump) , the pump itself.
I'd start with a fuel pressure guage, duplicate it and see if you have lift pump pressure.

Yeah, I'd start by checking the fuel pressure. The check valve's don't have the best reputation--mine went out around 80k miles. I think Piers has a good price on them if thats the problem.
Also, when was the last time you cleaned out the screen in the prefilter?

Also check to make sure the waste gate isn't sticking open, and that the cat. converter isnt stopped up. I've had both problems with my 96 3500
