OK so I'm still trying to figure out which route to go on building my front end steering. Which rod end allows for more missalignment/deflection? Are non-tapered mount hiem rod ends more dangerous on the road or is a hiem joint with a grade 8 bolt & a nylon locknut or castle nut with a pin just as safe (on the road)? I MIGHT spring for a $500+ cross over steering set up but I got to make my money go as far as I can get it to go.
I've got some money coming to me in the form of a bonus at the end of the year & I'm trying to figure out where my money is best blown;)

If you play in the mud stick with conventional tie rods. They are plenty strong.

"Heims" are for amatuers. Stick with a HD tre, you'll be happier. I used spherical rod ends on my steering when I got my 60, and now it'll cost me a bunch of green to get back to tre's.

And not to be a dick, but "heim" is actually a brand name, not a generic term. It's like all these little homos runnin around callin' nitrous oxide "NOS." Or all the Gangsta's callin any fobafo a Jeep. Yo, yo, yo, wa'sup?:D
