Got a quick question. Whenever I drive long distances on the highway (high rpm's) would it be smart to advance my distributor like eight degrees? Would I get better gas mileage or worse? Also would I be able to notice any increase in performance? Just wondering cause my truck is a 4 speed 22R so it gets pinned at around 75-80 mph and I want just a little more than that. Thanks for any responses

slow down. if u are running 80, thats fast enough. 8 degreese is alot. i dont recomend it. is ur vaccum advance working properly? u should have about 35 or 40 degreese of advance

Secondly, you can advance your timing until you get detonation, buying premium so you can advance your timing won't pay the extra cost back. 2stroke is right, if your timing advance is working right, you will already be running tons of advance. Stick with what toyota reccomends. Keep in mind you have a 100hp 4cyl pushing a brick through air with no overdrive, I'd say 75 is damn good.

Why the heck do you want to go that fast in a wheeler? Or ya got one of those fast/furious wings on the back :flipoff2:

If you want to go faster, get another tranny. I think going that fast with a 4 speed is probably as good as it gets. I haven't had a truck 4 speed before but a Toyota car 4 speed I had, the valves would start floating any faster than that.
