: buying spring perches.
4004ever 11-26-2002, 08:54 AM Someone mentioned on this board that when doing a soa you can use dodge spring perches. For what dodge? Have you tried getting a parts counter guy to help you with perch dimensions?
My first inclination is for a dana 60. But application is what they need when ordering. TIA

The search button is your friend.... :D
Also, mentioned about 50 times in different tech writeups on my site....
(tho I know the site is in "move mode" right now and a little wonky...)
The Jerk 11-26-2002, 09:01 AM i belive they are just generic mopar pads! jiMMy
TLCObsession 11-26-2002, 09:04 AM Or build some longer ones from box tubing and a hole saw. ALso Mudrak has some nice ones...
The Dodge ones are cheap and easy, but too short and can exacerbate spring wrap.

4004ever 11-26-2002, 09:26 AM sometimes 'search' is your friend, other times it is easier to get a quick response from the board. I'll take the risk.
The dodge perches part # 4120074 will cost about 10 bucks!
Woody, thanks for the link.

Well, I'm taking credit for the first responder but also using the search to find it! :D
Problem is, unless you are just weird, most of us don't keep these answers at our fingertips, so we need to search for it too...
<insert names of 600+ PBB weirdos here, including me, who do keep some useless knowledge handy...>

Got that, but even so, doing longer perches helps... The mopar ones are pretty cheesy in a world where overbuilt gets respect...
ranger 11-26-2002, 09:53 AM I make mine out of reciever tubing. This way I can custom cut them longer in the rear to give a little more length, helps counter act the axle wrap. Usually no more than 6" in lenth.:skull:
4004ever 11-26-2002, 10:21 AM wouldn't it make more sense to take the pre-built mopar perches and weld a 3" x 6" x 1/2" plate to the top of them? It just seems like less work that way. I don't have enough time to custom everything on this beast.
ranger 11-26-2002, 10:39 AM Maybe so, but I tend to "overbuild" my stuff so I can go to hell, and make it back, with no worries!:D
Toyota overbuilt the cruisers so I might as well keep up the tradition.
It was just a suggestion....:skull:

SO why did they take their heaviest vehicle and use smaller birfields in it, than in the lighter, 4-cylinder pickup truck? :flipoff2:
ranger 11-26-2002, 11:44 AM Its an improvement over the ball joint type axles!
But like every vehicle made there is always room for improvement....Just ask a h**p owner!:flipoff2:

ironpig70 11-26-2002, 05:57 PM bought mine from summit $20 a pair shipped to my door i am using stock springs on 12 bolt rear.
