I'm considering running a rear-mounted radiator for the 302 in my TJ, so that I can move the motor forward and run a longer driveline. Anybody have any pics of where you mounted one in any vehicle, but especially in a SWB Jeep? Thanks.

Half the guys in my club run rear mounted radiators. Most for motor clearance. Here is one of them. Not a jeep though :D

Make sure the plumbing is very secure and not in the open. I know a girl who went to the hospital because she was riding in a open top suburban mud truck, blew radiator hose, and boiling water went all over her, burning her.

i belive you can jsut run copper tubing or similar material and use the correct epoxie along with soildering thejoints and should be good to go! jiMMy

Just use copper tubing, and solder the joints like you would for home plumbing. Make sure you put a metal shield in between yourself and the radiator incase it bursts, so you don't get coolant all over yourself. You really shouldn't have a problem running a front mounted one though.

I could be wrong but it looks like Lance ran his coolant through small diameter exhaust tubing to his rear mounted rad. search
for an old post of his and I think he tells what they did...

I mounted mine in the rear and used 1.5" .120 tube to plum it...

i mounted the radiator in the rear of my scout to make room for a 350. i used 2 " aluminized muffler tubing for the most part and flexy hose for the really tight places. plus the muffler tubing is really cheap, will never rust, and your local muffler shop can bend it for you.

Where do you get that from. It is rust resistant, but it will definately rust.

A-Lum-Min-nized as in aluminum. means its steel with aluminum coating. have you ever seen aluminum rust. had this set up on the scout for 3 years and it has absolutely no rust...and has seen more than its fair share of mud and abuse.

Any issues with cooling? Did you do any mods to the water pump? I'll be running a '97 5.7L Vortec in a Toyota and would like to run a rear mounted radiator for the engine compartment clearance. Thanks.
