Well, I hope this is in the right section to post ....

I gotta w56 and t-case rebuilt by the man (Marlin). Sure looks purdy:D. I'm gonna put it all back in the rig tomorrow. I see something I'm not sure of.....

On the front of the tcase where it will mate up to the tranny, there are the two main bearings. Between them is a small philips/bolt that holds a finger over each bearing to keep them in there seat. Is that just for shippng???

Do I remove the screw and fingers when I bolt the case/tranny together????
It seems when the cases are bolted together, bearings will be sandwiched in place...??
I dident see them before caus I shipped the whole thing as one.

Thanks,

Ryan

That's part of the T-case assembly, so just leave it in. Some T-Cases came with the clip, and some didn't, but if toyota thought it should be there, I would go ahead and leave it.

You are correct--the back of your tranny has a retainer to sandwich the snap ring and bearing in place when it's all bolted together.

That clip keeps the snapring/bearing from sliding out while you're lining everything up and bolting the t-case to the tranny. You won't break anything if you leave it out, but if your t-case is tapped for that small bolt, leave it in, it won't hurt a thing, and will help you a tiny bit.
