I was wondering what people think about their newer Chevys with the 6.0. How does it do towing and what about gas milage.

Thanks Eric

A good friend of mine has a 2500 and he used to tow two jeeps on a gooseneck before the trailer was stolen. Tows really well, only gets about 9 mpg though.

A buddy of mine has a 2500 duramax, it is in MO. now with a grenaded motor. Seems that the oil pump quit pumping, and the rest is history. He's gettin a new motor, but he's not too happy.

And this relates to his question how?

About 14,000 miles on my '02 2500HD Crew Cab 2wd w/ 6.0
4.10 rear end.

Still getting around 12 mpg in stop and go driving.

Hits up to 15 mpg on the freeway (70 mph) UNLOADED

When fully loaded with the cruiser, stuff, what ever and
I'm going 75mph... it will drop to 11 mpg.

The 4WD will drop the mileage about 1mpg (10-14).

Still pretty happy with my choice. Big heavy truck, but 4WD or Duramax adds $$$ to the price. Funny mileage is about the same in my FJ40 Land Cruiser, but heck of a lot of more comfortable to cruise in the truck for six hours! :D

Aggie... did he have the 8.1? Nice rigs, but suck the gas. 6.0 for my use (90% daily driver, 10% towing) working out pretty good.
Still would like a beater commuter car... crew cabs are a pain to park at times!
