This is kinda building off of BigDudes thread on portals run with spring under suspensions. Think a stock TJ suspension could be adapted easily to a set of mog 9's? If so it would almost equal out dollar wise to adding a conventional quality lift and axle set. More clearance, stock suspension geometry, and room for 36"+ tires. What are the downsides? While it is still a chunk of change, I think it would end up being fairly capable. I'm sure some beefing of the links would be in order, at some point.
Opinions please.

Give it a shot and let us know! The super low gearing would suck on the highway if you plan to DD it. Swap over to long arm with a mild lift, build the hell out of everything else and wheel it.

Dont even have a TJ, just knockin around ideas. Debating wether to start over on my YJ or just get another project. It'll be trail only, well maybe a little road time between trails, but not much.

These were posted on the TJ list a few weeks ago. I don't know the guy or know anything about the rig but it looks like he did something similar to what you are talking about. There is obviously custom work involved but it is definitely doable. HTH
