Well Ive recently finished up swapping an OM617 turbo into my toyota pickup and have still not quite figured out how to adapt the factory toyota tachometer to the diesel. I am thinking of using this http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=128/prd128.htm with one of there flywheel sensor sending units but I need to know if it will work off of the crank positioning sensor. Does anyone know if this will work? My other thought was possibly adding a W terminal to the alternator and using the same adapter. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Heres a link to the build thread

I would try touse one of those alternator tach's. Benz uses a crank sensor with a amp.

Ya but I'm wanting to make the factory tach work I dont want to have an aftermarket one when theres one in my cluster already and I dont really have any room for more gauges anyways

is there a build thread or anything for that or do you know what kind of sending unit that is?
