: That 60 degree Isuzu AW4 bellhousing...
Indy Will 06-02-2011, 12:56 PM Pardon my noob-ness to Isuzu's... I've exhausted my online searching abilities for the day as well...
Everything I've read mentions the 3.5 for the AW4 bellhousing.
I've located a 2004 Rodeo with a 3.2 locally that's willing to sale just the bellhousing... Same trans and bellhousing?
is he trying to sale it or sell it?
Indy Will 06-02-2011, 01:25 PM Sail. It's coming across the pond.
I had 'for sale' typed and then edited...
Douche.
R.DesJardin 06-02-2011, 01:37 PM I am very sure the AW autos are in some V6 Isuzus just under a different name, using a GM 60* bolt pattern yes, but Aisin Warner trans none the less. There is a write up about a guy bolt a 3800SC onto his AW trans you have probably seen. I'm guess either a Northstar swap or a SC 3800 swap in a new car?
More info
"I'm saying that the 2004 Rodeo *does* use the AW 30-80 family tranny, and that it is a better tranny IMO. They *did* use them in the past in the 2.6 automatic Trooper in the '88 - '91 time frame. That was the A340H. They went to the 4L30-E in the 90's and around 2002 or 2003 started switching back to the A340 family of trans again. For 2004, *all* 3.2/3.5 automatic Rodeo and Axiom's I've seen (about 15 total at different dealers) are the AW tranny."
Jaybird323 06-02-2011, 04:07 PM there is a difference between the 60* gm engines and the *60 isuzu engines which the 3.2/3.5 is.

Yes, different engines same bolt pattern. Google it up there is several guys that have swapped in Buick 3800's and Aurora V8's. I've found lotsa info on this.
Jaybird323 06-02-2011, 04:44 PM Im going by what JLEMOND says right here.
http://forum.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic.php?t=40304&highlight=degree
and the 3.2L and 3.5L are the same engine, use the same computer, the 3.5L just puts out a little bit more power.
And over on planetisuzoo.com JLEMOND is a retired isuzu master tech that pretty much knows all when it comes to these trucks.
R.DesJardin 06-02-2011, 05:08 PM Here is what I found about swaps: http://myweb.cableone.net/bcanderson/trooper/AuroraSwap.html

I had read that somewhere as well. I just didn't know if they decided to use a different trans on the 3.2 with less power.
Even if it's got a 60 degree on the motor side I need it to have the Jeep aw4 pattern on the trans side.
I'll check out all the links. Just got back to this. Thanks.
Jaybird323 06-02-2011, 08:30 PM Ive read that the jeep aw4, ax5, toyota r150f and r151 will bolt up to the 3.2 and 3.5. Atleast the bell housing will.

That's sounding better.
Didn't I chat with you about a tap shifter for the my KOH car a couple years ago?
I'll be getting your aw4 full manual shifter if I can get this thing bolted up behind my 2.5 TJ. Racing A Class in ECORS (www.ecors.com) with it. I've pushed the ax5 too far.

Yeah, thought I recognized your sig. Keep searching you'll find what you need. I tried to get a trans. from a Rodeo but the guys hosed me on it. Been wanting to do a swap using the Isuzu bell housing.
ECORS 06-02-2011, 10:02 PM Will,
Have you asked Joe Darlington about it? How he talks about his Isuzus I'd be surprised if he didn't know your answer.

For 98+ motors, yes, the 3.5L is basically a stroked 3.2L. However, the 92-97 Isuzu 3.2L is a different motor entirely. Just a point of clarification.
