I noticed that when winding the cable in, and the hook stops the cable from going in any further, the upper housing kinda of "torques" over a little... is this normal??
And yeah, it's a puuurty brand-spankin' new 8274-50... not a rebuild... couldn't find any worth my time.
I'm guessing the same thing would happen when you suddenly apply a load, like taking up the slack, and then the cable goes taut..

Not normal that I've ever noticed...make sure the mounting bolts between upper and lower housing are torqued properly.
You should only put just a wee bit of tension on once the hook fetches up though.
Make sure your monting bolts are nice and tight too.

Yeah I agree with Bill here. NOT normal...are you sure it's not the winch plate flexxing?
NoRM
My guess is the plates flexing or the mounting bolts arent tight. Mine doesnt move.

I will go check the upper/lower bolts now.. I know for a fact that the mount bolts are TIGHT.. I torqued the shite outta them.
As for the *wee* bit of tension... I was getting used to the speed of the winch, and it kinda over-ran... Forgive me..I came from a Ramsey REP9000! (slooow)
I'd buy the "winch is shifting on the mounts" idea. I'm going to change the bolts for some grade 12 anyway :p
Here's a picture of the mount... I know it's not flexing... That's how I knew the winch was moving.. the bumper didn't, while the winch did.
